Although unable to complete the goal of winning a ticket to the final, coach Troussier still expressed satisfaction with the U22 Vietnam players.
“U22 Vietnam entered the match with the goal of winning and reaching the final, so this result disappointed us.
But the players showed their mettle in difficult times. They found an equalizer through their tactics and I am satisfied with that,” said Mr. Troussier.
Besides, the French coach once again affirmed that the reason for the goal lost in the 90+7 minute of U22 Vietnam was due to inexperienced players.
“The goal in extra time happened because the U22 Vietnam squad is still young, including many U20 players, so the courage and experience are not enough to make the right decisions at the important moment.
Anyway, I am satisfied with the players. They fought with all their might. I asked the players to change their mindset, to play proactively and attack," said coach Troussier.
In this match, U22 Vietnam played quite well. Especially when having the advantage of more players, the players in white shirts created a lot of pressure on the U22 Indonesia goal.
However, the strikers of U22 Vietnam were quite unlucky in finishing situations.
Coach Troussier said: “After Indonesia received the red card, we had many opportunities to finish the match. But the players made the wrong decisions, at the wrong time.
However, I have not lost faith in the players. They have tried very hard and implemented the tactics given. But this is football, there will be winners and losers."
Despite losing to U22 Indonesia, Khuat Van Khang and his teammates still have a bronze medal match on May 16 with the losing team in the semi-final between Thailand and Myanmar.
