Eating before exercise may be more important for some groups of people, such as athletes or those who train for long periods of time. However, whether to eat before or after may be a matter of personal preference and depends on each person's physical condition.
For some people, eating before exercise can make them feel full and nauseous, but others feel weak and tired if they don't consume food first.
Many people who want to perform at their best wonder if exercising on an empty stomach affects their performance. The answer is that there is no difference in performance between those who eat before exercising and those who do not.
If you eat a few hours before you exercise, the nutrients you consume can remain in high concentrations in your blood, both during and after your workout. If you choose to exercise on an empty stomach, your body will fuel your workout by drawing on its own energy stores.
In fact, exercising on an empty stomach increases your body's ability to use fat for fuel. Your body stores about 2,000 calories as glycogen and much more as fat. All that stored energy allows you to exercise even if you haven't eaten for hours.
In this case, it is advisable to eat as soon as possible after exercise, this is more important than in case you did not eat anything before exercising.
