Laos is the second international market where GSM has a full presence in ride-hailing and vehicle distribution, after Vietnam. This is an important step in the brand’s “Go Green Global” strategy, demonstrating its pioneering efforts to bring the “Made in Vietnam” sustainable transportation model to the region.
After more than a year of implementing the ride-hailing service in four provinces and cities including Vientiane, Vang Vieng, Savannakhet and Champasak, Xanh SM has recorded positive responses from Lao people, initially affirming the effectiveness and suitability of the model in the market.
To date, millions of customers in Laos have accompanied Xanh SM, traveling more than 8 million km by electric vehicle, contributing to reducing emissions into the environment - equivalent to the amount of CO₂ absorbed by more than 70,000 trees in a year.
That is the foundation for Xanh SM to take a step further on its journey to contribute to the greening of Laos' transportation through the introduction of the Xanh SM Platform.
Acting as an open technology solution, Xanh SM Platform will allow individuals who own VinFast VF 5 electric vehicles in Laos to become partners in operating transportation services, proactively generating sustainable income.
According to the current revenue sharing policy, driver partners participating in Xanh SM Platform will enjoy a rate of up to 87%, the highest rate in the Lao market today. In addition, driver partners also have the opportunity to access a large customer base from the Xanh SM ecosystem, and participate in a systematic and synchronized training program according to international green transport service standards.
In parallel with the introduction of Xanh SM Platform, Xanh SM also announced the opening of the first VinFast store on Kaysone Phomvihane Street, Phakao Village, Xaythany District, and introduced and opened for sale two electric car models VinFast VF 3 and VF 5. Currently, Xanh SM is the official exclusive distribution partner of VinFast in Laos.

“The deployment of the Green SM Platform in Laos is not only a market expansion, but also a strategic move to comprehensively export a sustainable development model where technology, environment and economic opportunities are integrated into a single platform,” said Nguyen Van Thanh, General Director of GSM Global.
“We believe that Vietnam can not only produce green vehicles, but can also lead a global transformation in the way we move,” Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh emphasized.
