NewJeans donates all profits from college show to charity

On the evening of May 25, girl group NewJeans made a surprise appearance at the Korea University festival, performing a series of hits "New Jeans", "Bubble Gum", "How Sweet" and "ETA".

This is NewJeans' first live stage since the group officially returned with the double single "How Sweet" and "Bubble Gum" on May 24.

However, NewJeans only performed with 4 members Minji, Hanni, Haerin and Danielle. Because the youngest member Hyein is temporarily resting to treat an injury.

Immediately after the event, on the same evening, NewJeans' management company, ADOR, announced the group's performance schedule. Accordingly, NewJeans hopes to meet more fans at various events. Therefore, the group will perform at 7 university festivals in Korea throughout the next week.

Starting with Korea University, followed by Chosun University, Dong-Eui University, Busan University, Dongguk University, Sejong University and finally Chung-Ang University on May 31.

Notably, all profits from performing at universities will be donated to charity by NewJeans. This action has been supported and praised by the public, especially in the context of the tense internal conflict between ADOR and HYBE Group.

Meanwhile, NewJeans' digital performance on Korean music charts continues to be impressive, despite the new song being released over the weekend.

As of 11:30 p.m. on May 25 (Korean time), “How Sweet” ranked 2nd on Melon, 3rd on Bugs, 3rd on Genie, 7th on Flo, and 15th on Vibe. The song “Bubble Gum” ranked 2nd on Bugs, 4th on Melon, 8th on Genie, 8th on Flo, and 22nd on Vibe.

NewJeans' digital music ranking growth rate is considered to be superior to many music groups that have released new products since the beginning of the year.

NewJeans also set many records, when "How Sweet" was the Kpop group song released in 2024 with the highest number of unique listeners in the first hour on Melon.

"How Sweet" and "Bubble Gum" are also the two K-pop group songs with the highest number of unique listeners in the first 24 hours on Melon in 2024.
