With its incredibly bold design and gull-wing doors, it was believed for a time that the Dodge Turbo Charger would be produced commercially and sold on the market.

The early 1980s were a time of bold experimentation from the "Big Tree of Detroit" (a term used to describe the three major American automakers headquartered in Detroit, Michigan General Motors (GM), Ford, and Chrysler) as they sought to adapt to changing market demands and ever-evolving automotive technology. The Dodge Turbo Charger was one such experiment, launched at a time when the automaker was trying to reinvent itself. Designed by Dodge's Special Vehicles, the car was both a design exercise and a test bed for then-emerging turbo technology, paving a bold new direction for Dodge.
However, Dodge decided not to put this futuristic coupe into production, so it caused regrets, and to this day, 45 years later, many people would probably have forgotten about the existence of this concept car if it weren't for the upcoming auction. This Dodge Turbo Charger was originally finished in silver and red, the concept car was later repainted in silver and blue. The concept car has a grey cabin. It rides on three-piece SVI wheels and features roof-mounted indicators, clearly indicating its role on the track.
This car was auctioned off but there was no reference number, the reason the car was sold was as part of the liquidation of the Klairmont Kollections auto museum in Chicago. The museum is closing permanently, so everything needs to be sorted out as soon as possible, and so does this ultra-rare Dodge Turbo Charger. The auction is expected to feature around 295 classic cars and more than 1,000 pieces of street art. The public will have one last chance to tour the museum during a preview weekend on September 13-14 before it closes permanently.
The collection's owner, Larry Klairmont, died during the COVID-19 pandemic at the age of 94, and his son took over. However, the sheer size of the collection, coupled with the financial demands required to properly preserve and display nearly 300 cars, has made maintaining the collection increasingly difficult.
