Hanoi, resplendent with flags and flowers, and filled with the excitement of people welcoming the troops who liberated the capital on October 10, 1954, has been immortalized in many beautiful and emotional works of art.

Paintings depicting Hanoi on the joyous day of liberation by talented artists are on display at the exhibition "Hanoi: Vitality and Faith" on the first floor of Building B, Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, 66 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi. The exhibition is organized by the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024). The exhibition features 70 selected paintings, graphic works, and sculptures from the museum's modern art collection. The works utilize diverse materials and rich visual languages, each with its own style and imprint, but all share the sincere affection of the artists for Hanoi.

The exhibition presents images of Hanoi during a long historical period, from the fervent revolutionary spirit before 1945, clearly shown in the work "Capturing the Northern Palace" by artist Tran Dinh Tho; to the heroic Hanoi in the early days of the resistance, depicted in works such as "The Fortifications at Nga Tu So Crossroads" and "Cho Mo Market" by artist Nguyen Van Ty, "Hanoi in 1947" by artist Cong Van Trung, and "Capital of Resistance" by artist Nguyen Quang Phong… And especially, the image of Hanoi resplendent with flags and flowers welcoming the troops liberating the capital on October 10, 1945, is shown through many beautiful paintings. These include "Hanoi on Liberation Night " (Le Thanh Duc), " Liberated Hanoi" by Trinh Thiep, " Hang Duong Street" (Trinh Huu Ngoc), "The Joy of Liberation " (Tran Khanh Chuong), "Liberating the Capital" by Dinh Viet Luc… Or the happiness of welcoming peace in the work "Joyful Welcome to Peace" by Nguyen Sang.
In addition, the exhibition also features heartwarming images of President Ho Chi Minh with the capital during peacetime, such as the artwork "President Ho Chi Minh with railway workers in Gia Lam" by artist Pham Van Lung, and "President Ho Chi Minh visiting a kindergarten class" by artist Do Huu Hue…

Viewers also get to discover a beautiful, tranquil, ancient, and peaceful Hanoi through the works of Bui Xuan Phai, Tran Binh Loc, Nguyen Tien Chung… Hanoi is beautiful in the collective labor and production of a bygone era, as in the works " Bat Trang Pottery Workers" by Hoang Van Thu, "Dinh Cong (Rice Boat)" by Pham Thanh Liem, "Dinh Cong Rice Planters" by Nguyen Van Binh… Or works depicting the construction and development of the capital city, such as the works of painters Pham Van Don, Vu Duy Nghia, Kim Thai, and Nguyet Nga.
