From October 8 to 10, 2025, at Ngoc Khanh Cinema (523 Kim Ma, Giang Vo, Hanoi ), Vietnam Film Institute organized Vietnamese Film Days to celebrate the 71st anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2025).
"Vietnamese Film Days" is not only an opportunity for audiences to review traditions but also contributes to fostering love and pride for thousand-year-old Hanoi, especially among the young generation.
Films shown this time include: "North of the Capital," "Long Thanh Cam Gia Ca," "Hanoi 12 Days and Nights." All films will be shown free of charge to the audience at 9:00 a.m. from October 8-10.
Specifically, on October 8, the feature film "North of the Capital" produced by Vietnam Feature Film Studio in 1977, directed by Huy Thanh, will be shown.
The film tells the story of love and family of workers - militiamen assigned to protect Yen Phu Power Plant during the days when American planes bombed Hanoi.
That is Tuan, a worker who will join the army tomorrow but still wants to stand at the furnace on the last day. Uncle Phong, a long-time worker who, despite his old age, still volunteers to join the suicide squad. Ha, Uncle Phong's daughter, joins the art troupe, bringing her singing to encourage the fighting spirit of the workers...
On October 9, the feature film "Long Thanh Cam Gia Ca" by director Dao Ba Son, produced by Giai Phong Film Studio in 2010, will be shown. The film is based on the idea of the poem "Long Thanh Cam Gia Ca" by poet Nguyen Du.
The film is a love story between poet To Nhu (the real name of poet Nguyen Du) and a beautiful singer named Cam, famous in Thang Long citadel, in the historical context of Vietnam's ups and downs in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
The work depicts the human condition and the vitality of the culture of Thang Long in particular and Vietnam in general. "Long Thanh Cam Gia Ca" won the Golden Kite Award of the Vietnam Cinema Association in 2010.
On October 10, the feature film "Hanoi 12 Days and Nights" directed by People's Artist Bui Dinh Hac, produced by Vietnam Feature Film Studio in 2002, will be shown.
"Hanoi 12 Days and Nights" is elaborately performed with the purpose of recreating part of the "Dien Bien Phu in the Air" battle - a fierce battle of Hanoi people against the strategic raid by B-52 aircraft of the US imperialists in late December 1972, forcing the US Government to sign the Paris Agreement to bring peace to North Vietnam.
The work truly and vividly reflects and praises the bravery, resilience, intelligence and creativity of the army and people of the capital that created the glorious victory of "Hanoi - Dien Bien Phu in the air" in 1972.
The film won the Silver Lotus Award at the 14th Vietnam Film Festival.
The works selected for screening on this occasion are all classic and outstanding works of Vietnamese cinema, recreating the heroic historical milestones and cultural beauty of Hanoi./.
