Emergency overflow prevention of Ha Chau dike

(Chinhphu.vn) - The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has just sent a document to the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province, requesting the implementation of an emergency overflow prevention plan for the Ha Chau dike to respond to the exceptionally large flood on the Cau River.

Song Cau flood has reached its highest level in 40 years.

Currently, the flood on the Cau River downstream continues to rise; the water level at 5:00 p.m. on October 8 on the Cau River at Cha was 11.47 m, at some locations the flood level was close to the Ha Chau dike surface.

To ensure flood safety of the dike system, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development requests the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province to urgently direct local authorities, relevant agencies and units to:

Immediately mobilize all forces, materials, means, and emergency equipment to prevent overflow of Ha Chau dike at locations at risk of overflow, and prevent floodwater from overflowing the dike toward the fields.

Reviewing reserve materials for flood and storm prevention and dike protection to promptly mobilize and handle dike incidents when they occur.

Regularly inspect, urge, patrol and guard the dike, promptly detect and handle incidents and situations that may occur from the first hour.

Timely report incidents and situations to the Ministry (through the Department of Dike Management and Disaster Prevention and Control).
