On July 16, speaking with reporters of Cong Thuong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Duy Loc, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Gia Lai province, said: The unit has just sent a report to the Ministry of Industry and Trade , the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, and the Provincial People's Committee on industrial, commercial, and import-export activities in the first 6 months of 2024.
Mr. Loc shared that according to Decision No. 762 of the Provincial People's Committee on assigning socio-economic development plan targets for 2024, from December 16, 2023 to present, the Department of Industry and Trade has been assigned to implement 19 tasks assigned by the Provincial People's Committee, of which 19 tasks have been completed, ensuring quality and on time as prescribed. The Department of Industry and Trade also proposed many policies to advise the Provincial People's Committee to improve the business environment and enhance national competitiveness according to Resolution 02 (2024) of the Government.

In the first 6 months of 2024, the Department of Industry and Trade has implemented solutions to develop industrial production, trade, and import and export to ensure flexibility and efficiency in the new situation. The total value of industrial production (2010 comparable prices) in the first 6 months of 2024 is estimated to reach more than 15,000 billion VND.
In which, the mining industry, processing and manufacturing industry, electricity and gas production and distribution industry, water supply, waste and wastewater management and treatment industry, etc. all achieved the plan.
Main products such as electricity production in the area (down 1.8%); refined sugar processing (down 2.3%); on the contrary, tea of all kinds; cassava starch processing; MDF products; granite; biofertilizers; milk processing; fruit juice products... all increased compared to the same period and were stable. In the first 6 months of the year, the operation of a number of wind power plants from the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024 contributed to the electricity production in the area.
Quinconac fruit juice factories, RE refined sugar factory, Thanh Thanh Cong biofertilizer factory, wind power plants invested and put into operation with a capacity of 248.8 MW (Ia Le wind power plant, Hung Hai wind power plant, Ia Pech 2 wind power plant and Song An wind power plant) ... have contributed significantly to the industrial production value in the first 6 months of 2024.
The market price situation is controlled and stable, most agricultural products such as coffee, pepper, sugar cane, rice, durian and some fruits have increased in price compared to the same period, positively affecting people's income.
Businesses, shopping malls, supermarkets and markets operated stably, implementing many promotional programs to stimulate consumption during the holidays and Tet. Departments, branches and localities coordinated to organize many trade promotion activities, cultural, sports and tourism activities, positively impacting the revenue of a number of service industries; businesses continued to implement trade promotion activities, promote and introduce products, stabilize the market and implement the Campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods".
According to the assessment of the Gia Lai Industry and Trade Department, in the first months of 2024, the province's export activities were favorable despite the difficulties. The province's agricultural products were in the harvest season: coffee, pepper, fruit... so the volume of agricultural products was relatively large. At the time of reporting, the domestic coffee purchase price doubled, the average export price increased by 30% over the same period, which was a favorable condition to promote exports. Import turnover in the first 6 months of 2024 increased by 23.7% over the same period, mainly due to the sharp increase in volume and value of cassava chips and cashew nuts imported through the Le Thanh international border gate; other goods increased by 78% due to Louis Dreyfus Company Vietnam Trading and Processing Co., Ltd. increasing imports of soybeans, corn kernels...
With in-depth advice in the fields of industry and trade, the Department of Industry and Trade has been making an important contribution to helping Gia Lai province successfully implement the socio-economic development plan and the State budget estimate for 2024 set out in the Government's Resolution.
