Opening this new major not only demonstrates the school's strategic orientation in training but also contributes to realizing the Party and State's policy of enhancing foreign languages in the national education system.
Strengthening foreign language training to meet globalization trends
English has long been the main language in international communication, global trade, science and technology, as well as educational and cultural cooperation activities. According to Conclusion 91-KL/TW in 2024 of the Politburo , Vietnam is aiming to "gradually make English the second language in the education system". In that context, opening an English language training major is a step in line with the national orientation, while also meeting the practical needs of the domestic and international labor market.
The International Faculty ( Thai Nguyen University) is a pioneer in implementing training programs in English in the midland and mountainous areas of the North. With many years of experience teaching international majors, a team of lecturers with rich professional capacity, high qualifications and international experience, the International Faculty is increasingly affirming its reputation and training quality.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Ha Xuan Linh - Head of the International Faculty, the English Language major not only focuses on training basic knowledge of language but also focuses on developing English language skills in the context of international trade and business. Students will be exposed to an interdisciplinary training method, combining linguistics, professional communication, negotiation skills, and knowledge of international business culture.
The training program is designed in a practical orientation, creating opportunities for learners to practice commercial translation and interpretation skills, write reports, contracts, emails in a business environment, as well as analyze and process commercial information in English.
In particular, students will be trained in important soft skills such as: critical thinking, creativity, teamwork, time management and the ability to adapt to a multicultural working environment - indispensable requirements for workers in the integration era.

International academic environment – diverse experience opportunities
A prominent strength of the International Faculty is the international learning environment, with the presence of many joint training and cooperation programs with foreign universities and organizations.
Students majoring in English have the opportunity to participate in international study and internship exchange programs such as IAESTE, Erasmus+, and short-term and long-term training cooperation programs in Europe and Asia.
In addition to regular classes, students are also encouraged to participate in academic clubs, English speaking competitions, and cultural and language exchanges with international students. These are practical extracurricular activities that contribute to improving English proficiency, teamwork skills, and cross-cultural communication skills.
In the context of increasingly deep international economic integration, the need to recruit human resources proficient in English in fields such as trade, finance, import-export, marketing, services, tourism, education, etc. is constantly increasing. According to statistics from foreign-invested enterprises (FDI), foreign language skills, especially English, are becoming a mandatory factor for many job positions.
Graduates of the English Language major at the Faculty of International Studies can take on many positions such as: Commercial translator and interpreter; International communications specialist; Assistant, secretary to directors in FDI enterprises; Marketing, import-export specialist; International tour guide; or continue to study at higher levels at universities at home and abroad.
Currently, the Faculty is also organizing business internship programs, simulated recruitment interviews, and career seminars to help students gain practical skills and prepare for the job search process after graduation.
The opening of the English Language major at the Faculty of International Studies (Thai Nguyen University) is a clear demonstration of the strategic orientation in training that connects practice, innovation and international integration.
This is not only a valuable learning opportunity for young people who love foreign languages and wish to develop in a global environment, but also a practical contribution to the development of high-quality human resources to serve the country's development.
