Over the past year, the provincial health sector has proactively prevented, controlled and controlled all types of epidemics. At the same time, it has ensured activities to prevent malnutrition, occupational diseases, population - family planning... The provincial health sector has advised the Provincial People's Committee to pay attention to investing and developing medical facilities and human resources. From the central and provincial budgets, many projects have been implemented such as providing new specialized equipment for district health centers; upgrading, expanding facilities and purchasing equipment for provincial and district hospitals... contributing to ensuring facilities and equipment for medical facilities. Along with that, the provincial health sector has focused on developing medical human resources. In 2023, 37 people were sent to participate in postgraduate training; 253 people participated in training courses to improve knowledge, skills and professional titles. Up to now, the whole province has 8,941 medical staff, 1,648 doctors, reaching 10.28 doctors/10,000 people; 100% of commune, ward and town health stations meet national standards, have doctors, midwives or obstetricians and pediatricians; 100% of hamlets and villages have qualified medical staff.
In addition, medical facilities are constantly improving the quality of professional activities through the transfer of advanced techniques in treatment from upper-level hospitals. Typically, Sa Dec General Hospital has developed specialized techniques in the following specialties: burns, endocrinology, endoscopic surgery of the bladder and liver. Dong Thap Traditional Medicine Hospital has added electroacupuncture techniques.
At Dong Thap General Hospital, specialist doctor II Nguyen Hoang Viet - Deputy Director of Dong Thap General Hospital, said that in recent years, to improve the quality of treatment, the hospital has organized annual scientific conferences to help doctors and medical staff learn and exchange new knowledge in their profession. In addition, it has received active support from upper-level hospitals in technology transfer. Up to now, the hospital has implemented new techniques in the field of treating injuries and diseases of the lumbar spine and cervical spine; knee replacement surgery, hip replacement surgery; combined surgery for complex fractures... In 2023 alone, Dong Thap General Hospital received active support and coordination from Operation Walk Florida; Hospitals: Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Military Hospital 175, Tam Anh General Hospital, the hospital has successfully performed joint replacement surgery for 69 patients (21 knee replacement patients, 48 total hip replacement patients).
Along with improving the quality of treatment, medical facilities in the province have increased training to improve the spirit and service attitude of staff, doctors and nurses in examination, treatment, communication and behavior with patients and their relatives. People's Physician, Specialist II Tran Huu Tri - Director of Tam Nong District Medical Center, said: "Every year, the Center deploys 100% of staff, doctors and nurses of the unit to register to innovate their style and attitude in serving patients; regularly organizes training to improve the qualifications and communication and behavioral skills of staff, doctors and nurses. Every week, the departments and rooms of the Center hold meetings to grasp the opinions and suggestions of patients and their relatives on the quality of service; promptly correct the remaining limitations to achieve patient satisfaction". Specialist Doctor I Nguyen Thanh Tung - Head of Internal Medicine - Infectious Diseases Department, Tam Nong District Medical Center, shared: "Through attending training courses, I feel that I need to be more calm, put myself in the position of the patient and the patient's relatives to understand them better. From then on, during the examination, treatment, and communication with patients, I always behave politely, take good care of the patient, especially implementing the 6 principles: "Greeting - smiling - listening - instructing - thanking - apologizing" in the work of examination and treatment.
With many efforts, the provincial health sector has gradually created trust and satisfaction of the people towards the health sector. In 2024, the provincial health sector aims to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment; effectively monitor, forecast the situation, prevent and control epidemics. Actively advise the Provincial People's Committee to promote investment in developing facilities and medical equipment; train to improve professional qualifications for medical staff and doctors; have preferential policies to attract highly skilled medical staff. At the same time, the provincial health sector strengthens the application of information technology in professional activities, regularly receives new technical transfers from higher levels, contributing to improving the quality of treatment for patients.
