April 29, 1954: Our army is ready to enter the third attack.

On April 29, 1954, the 304th, 308th, 312th, 316th, 351st Divisions and the 57th Regiment, after re-checking combat preparations, reported to the Front Command: all were ready to enter the third attack.

On the same day, the Conference of the Party Committee Secretary and the comrades in charge of the general departments directly leading and directing the troops fighting at the Dien Bien Phu Front ended. The Conference took place over 3 days, from April 27 to 29, 1954. At the Conference, General Vo Nguyen Giap, Secretary of the Campaign Party Committee, introduced the new Resolution of the Politburo and presented the Report of the Front Party Committee: "Resolutely fight against negative rightist ideology, build a positive revolutionary spirit, and a spirit of thoroughly obeying orders to ensure the complete victory of the campaign".

The conference discussed and agreed on the situation after carefully analyzing the difficulties and advantages of us and the enemy. From the General Military Commission to the comrades in charge of the general departments and the secretaries of the corps party committees, they strictly reviewed and corrected negative rightist ideology, determined the determination and measures to lead the troops to fight resolutely, ensuring the victory of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign. On the basis of reviewing self-criticism and criticism of the remaining negative rightist ideology and determining the determination to lead the troops to fight resolutely to achieve total victory for the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, the conference stated: "The task of all party members, all cadres and soldiers in the units fighting at the Dien Bien Phu Front is to resolutely destroy all enemy troops and achieve total victory for the campaign." However, on the way to victory, a huge obstacle is preventing our army from fulfilling its historical mission, which is negative rightist ideology, the phenomenon of poor spirit of obeying orders, lack of determination in carrying out tasks...

After the Conference, most of the officers of the Campaign Political Agency divided themselves to help the units, and carried out a rapideducation campaign for all troops, from Party committees to Party members, from officers to soldiers, so that everyone could clearly understand the situation and increase their determination to complete the mission.

In addition, the Party Committee of the Front Supply also issued an appeal: "Our guns have fired, we cannot do without them. Our troops have fought, we cannot do without them. Our army has advanced, we cannot stop. Cadres, soldiers, and laborers must devote all their strength, coordinate closely, urgently and persistently, not afraid of hardships, difficulties, or fatigue, and resolutely complete the task well."
