Promoting the role of women in socio-economic development

Exciting women's emulation movements

With the spirit of " Ninh Binh women are united, creative, confident and developed", the Women's Union at all levels in the province has strongly deployed patriotic emulation movements and major campaigns, thereby creating an exciting atmosphere among cadres and members.

Outstanding examples include the movement “Building a new-age Vietnamese woman”; the campaign “Building a family of 5 no’s and 3 clean’s”; models such as “Women saving to buy health insurance cards”, “Women’s groups collecting waste to help poor women and children”, “Rice jars, piggy banks”, “Women with civilized tourism”, “Gathering women to participate in association activities on cyberspace”, “Classifying and treating organic household waste”, “Turning waste into money”, “Women participating in protecting the environment in coastal areas, building new rural areas”…

Social security and humanitarian charity programs have been widely implemented, such as the "Godmother" program, "Millions of gifts to share love", "Accompanying women in the border areas". For the "Godmother" program alone, the Association at all levels has sponsored over 1,200 orphans in difficult circumstances.

In addition, the Women's Union at all levels also mobilized the construction and repair of 102 charity houses, helping poor women with a total value of nearly 6 billion VND. In particular, responding to the emulation campaign "130 works, tasks overcoming difficulties, being creative and effective to welcome the 13th National Women's Congress", 100% of the Women's Union units registered to carry out specific tasks, associated with promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style.

Comrade Dao Thi Hoa, Chairwoman of the Provincial Women's Union (PPU), said: The emulation movements, campaigns, and models launched and implemented by the PPU at all levels have become the driving force for women to constantly strive and contribute. From the emulation movements, many typical collectives and individuals have emerged in various fields.

In the period of 2021-2025, 233 Women's Union collectives at all levels, 487 individuals who are female officials and members were honored and awarded Medals, Certificates of Merit, and emulation titles by the President, Prime Minister, Central Committee of Vietnam Women's Union, ministries, central branches and the province; over 3,400 collectives and more than 4,000 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by Women's Unions at all levels and District People's Committees (formerly).

With the support and companionship of the Provincial Women's Union at all levels, the team of female cadres in Ninh Binh is increasingly confident and brave in participating in the apparatus of the political system, many of them holding key leadership positions at all levels. At the same time, they have promoted their roles and responsibilities well, making many important contributions to the work of building a strong Party, government and political system.

According to statistics, currently, the number of female members of the Provincial Party Executive Committee is 14 (accounting for 14%); female members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee are 2 (accounting for 8%); and female National Assembly deputies are 9 (accounting for 45%).

Active contribution to economic development

Not only successful in the political and social fields, Ninh Binh women also have many positive contributions to economic development. In the agricultural sector, women are the key force in implementing the transformation of crop and livestock structure; promoting the industrialization and modernization of agriculture, developing ecological agriculture, applying high technology, protecting the environment, deep processing, safety, having geographical indications, and building brands. Many models of high-tech farms and ranches owned by women have brought high economic efficiency.

The number of female workers working in the province's industrial zones and clusters is increasing, making an important contribution to the province's industrial production value and export turnover. Female workers constantly learn and improve their skills, actively respond to the movement "Good workers, creative workers", many technical innovation initiatives are effectively applied.

In the service sector, women make up the majority of workers in the trade, finance, tourism and banking sectors, thereby promoting service industry revenue growth and improving people's quality of life.

In particular, in recent years, the team of female entrepreneurs has grown rapidly and strongly in both quantity and quality. Many women have successfully started businesses with innovative models, applying technology, not only enriching themselves but also creating jobs for hundreds of workers, contributing to the economic restructuring and spreading the entrepreneurial spirit in the community.

To accompany and support women members in economic development, the Women's Union at all levels has effectively implemented programs and activities to connect women with preferential credit sources from entrusted lending activities with credit institutions, with a total outstanding debt of nearly VND 9,000 billion, lending to 125,000 members for economic development, including nearly 8,500 poor women.

In the period of 2021-2025, the Provincial Women's Union at all levels coordinated with relevant units to organize vocational training, transfer of skills, and introduce jobs to over 6,000 female workers; supported over 3,500 women in difficult circumstances to borrow from the Union's fund with an amount of nearly 26 billion VND (0% interest rate) for economic development; supported more than 10,000 working days, breeding animals, and gave over 400,000 health insurance cards to disadvantaged women members...

At the same time, the Provincial Women's Union has proactively advised and proposed to the province to issue many programs and plans to support women in economic development such as: Plan to implement projects: "Support women to start businesses", "Support cooperatives led and managed by women, creating jobs for female workers by 2030".

In particular, the Association has advised the province to add 16 billion VND/year to the Women's Development Support Fund to help women borrow capital to start a business. Every year, the Associations at all levels always closely follow the direction of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union and the province to concretize and include the content of supporting women's economic development in the emulation criteria, and develop an implementation plan.

In which, focus is placed on building pilot models for entrepreneurship, starting businesses, mobilizing women to participate in collective economic development, production and consumption of local specialties, endemic products, OCOP products; supporting the establishment of cooperatives, cooperative groups, and linkage groups operated and managed by women; supporting women to improve management capacity, access credit, expand markets, apply science and technology in production and business; supporting the standardization of OCOP products...

In the 2021-2025 period, 216/593 ideas and projects participating in the "Women's Entrepreneurship Day" contest were effectively supported by the Provincial Women's Union at all levels; mobilized over 20 billion VND in social capital to support capacity building for over 3,600 women starting businesses; commended and rewarded over 500 outstanding women entrepreneurs; advised and supported the establishment of 62 cooperatives and cooperative groups with nearly 800 members participating.

Up to now, the whole province has had nearly 200 OCOP products owned by women. The results show that Ninh Binh women are increasingly promoting the qualities of "Confidence - Self-respect - Loyalty - Responsibility", making an important contribution to the socio-economic development of the province.
