First day of conversion, served more than 23,000 customers
On May 17, all domestic flights of Vietnam Airlines were transferred to operate at passenger terminal T3 - Tan Son Nhat International Airport. The transfer of all domestic flights of Vietnam Airlines to terminal T3 started from 4:00 a.m. on May 17.
According to Tuoi Tre Online, operations on the first day were stable, and passengers completed procedures quickly.
According to a representative of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, on May 17, Terminal T3 served 144 flights with about 23,500 passengers, accounting for about 22% of the airport's total traffic.
This is a sharp increase compared to the previous period, when Vietnam Airlines only operated a few routes such as Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi and Van Don at the new terminal.
Terminal T3 has a designed capacity of 20 million passengers per year, equivalent to 7,000 passengers per peak hour, capable of handling aircraft from code C to code E.
Previously, the airline planned to complete the conversion on April 28, but the plan was postponed to ensure preparations.
Tan Son Nhat Airport recommends that passengers carefully check the terminal information printed on their tickets, especially during the initial phase of T3 operation.
Some airlines still make mistakes in announcements, leading to the risk of passengers going to the wrong station and missing their flights.
People are also advised to proactively contact the airline to verify information and plan their travel accordingly, as the approach to T3 is different from the existing T1 and T2 terminals.
Currently, flights of VietJet Air, Pacific Airlines, Bamboo Airways, Vietravel Airlines, Vasco and flights of Vietnam Airlines using ATR72 (to Con Dao, Ca Mau, Rach Gia) are still operating at terminal T1.
Regarding the lack of uniformity in signage, the port said it will continue to coordinate with functional units to increase the installation of clear and easily recognizable signs.
At the same time, promote shuttle bus routes, especially routes connecting directly to Terminal T3 to shorten travel time and reduce the need for passengers to walk too far.
