On June 14, the Search and Rescue Center and Disaster Prevention of Vinh City ( Nghe An Province) and local people successfully rescued more than 20 tourists at risk of drowning at Cua Lo beach.
Due to the influence of storm No. 1, the tide at Cua Lo beach receded that morning, but the waves were very big and there were strong currents with whirlpools, but many tourists still came to swim here.
More than 20 people fell into whirlpools and deep water areas, were swept away, leading to the risk of drowning (at 3 locations, 5 people were at risk of drowning at the same time, the remaining cases were scattered throughout Cua Lo beach) and were rescued in time.
Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Director of the Center for Search and Rescue and Natural Disaster Prevention of Vinh City, said that during the days affected by storm No. 1, the unit regularly monitored weather developments; mobilized maximum forces on duty along the beach, so they promptly detected and, together with local people, successfully rescued more than 20 cases on the morning of June 14; including one serious case that had to be hospitalized for emergency treatment, but his life was no longer in danger.
On days when the sea is rough and the waves are big, the Vinh City Search and Rescue and Disaster Prevention Center has advised tourists not to swim or organize recreational activities on the beach; and to strictly follow the warnings and reminders of the rescue force to ensure safety./.
