Dan Vien village (Cao Vien commune, Thanh Oai district, Hanoi ) is famous for its traditional craft of making lanterns. To date, 86-year-old artisan Nguyen Van Quyen is the only person in the village who still maintains and produces lanterns every Mid-Autumn Festival.
After more than 80 years of working in the profession, although the income is not high, with the passion of the artisan and the desire to maintain the traditional toy, Mr. Nguyen Van Quyen and his family still regularly produce lanterns and pass on their experience to the younger generation on how to create special gifts for children every Mid-Autumn Festival.
