Artisan Lo Van Bien is playing the panpipe - one of the important traditional musical instruments in the cultural life of the Thai people. |
According to him, Thai Xoe is not just a dance, but also a symbol of solidarity, equality and community cohesion. "Without Xoe, there is no joy, no success," he shared. In each Xoe round, regardless of age, gender or status, everyone holds hands and dances around the fire, expressing harmony and love of life.
Lo Van Bien is not only a performer but also a dedicated teacher, teaching Xoe, Khen, and Tinh to many generations of students. He also opened a class to teach Thai writing and compiled learning materials on Thai ethnic culture. In 2021, Xao Thai was recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, a testament to his tireless contributions.
Although he has passed away at the age of 92, the contributions of artisan Lo Van Bien will live on forever. He devoted his life to researching, preserving and teaching Thai ethnic culture to many generations. Thai Xoe, with its profound humanistic values, will continue to live forever in the hearts of the community, reminding us of a unique cultural heritage of solidarity, peace and love.
