Artist Phuong Lien has health problems, postpones December show in her hometown

This morning I received news from People's Artist Le Thuy, saying that artist Phuong Lien fainted in the bathroom at her home, although her life is not in danger, but currently her health does not allow her to take a plane from the US to Vietnam, so the show can be postponed indefinitely. The organizers apologize to the audience and wait until artist Phuong Lien recovers to organize it."

According to information from playwright Hoang Song Viet, Cai Luong artist Phuong Lien will return to Vietnam to perform with friends on December 16 at Ben Thanh Theater. Mr. Viet is the one who applied for a license for Phuong Lien's performance in Vietnam, considering it her last performance with the wish to meet the audience who once admired her on the Cai Luong stage.

After deducting all costs of organization, the remaining funds will be used for charity, helping elderly and disadvantaged artists in the country.

Speaking to the reporter of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Meritorious Artist Thanh Thanh Tam added that artist Phuong Lien's health has declined over the years, and that during one performance she suffered from high blood pressure, so she had to apologize to the audience. Therefore, upon hearing the news, artists in the US all prayed that she would quickly overcome it, to fulfill her wish to return home to perform.

Artist Phuong Lien was born in 1947 in Can Tho . She belongs to the "golden generation" of cai luong artists with the Thanh Tam Award Gold Medal in 1966.

She became the main actress of Tuan Kiet troupe in 1963, then joined Kim Chuong troupe and created a buzz with many plays such as: "Storm Demon", "Tearful Moon Season", "White Swallow"...

In the 1970s, along with artist My Chau, she was considered the "queen" of the record industry because record companies invited her to record and paid her very high salaries.

Phuong Lien has been living in the US with her husband for about 30 years. Occasionally, she returns to Vietnam to participate in shows and do charity work, most recently participating in the Golden Stage program organized by People's Artist Le Thuy and Minh Vuong to build charity houses.
