The seminar "50 years of Vietnamese dance art after the country's reunification - Achievements and development" was recently organized by the Vietnam Dance Artists Association, attracting many experts, researchers, lecturers and choreographers from all over the country.

The seminar was not only an opportunity to look back at the development of Vietnamese dance since 1975, but also an opportunity for delegates to share the proud achievements that dance has achieved over the past half century.

From the difficult early steps, Vietnamese dance has gradually affirmed its position, achieved many proud achievements and developed strongly over the past decades.

Many opinions at the discussion emphasized that amateur dance is approaching professional dance.

That shows the spread of dance art in social life, not only stopping at big stages but also penetrating into the community, contributing to raising people's awareness and aesthetics.

The discussion also recorded many opinions expressing concerns about preserving and promoting the wonderful values of traditional dance. People's Artist Phung Hong Quy said: "Traditional dance contains wonderful cultural values, but traditional dance works are not really attractive, so they have not attracted the public, especially the youth.

Nowadays, there are many entertainment programs that return to using traditional materials but are very attractive to audiences, such as "Anh trai vu ngan cong gai", "Anh trai say Hi"... Perhaps it is time for us to have new and more innovative ways of doing things. However, do not do it in a "capricious" way. If you do something, do it thoroughly and take into account the most fundamental factor, which is the traditional factor. Do not lose the unique identity of the nation in the process of innovation."

Sharing the same point of view, People's Artist Vu Hoai said that dance art has four basic functions: reflection function, aesthetic function, educational function and entertainment function.

It is necessary to combine all four functions harmoniously in the process of creating a work. However, depending on each stage and time, which function is given more attention to attract the audience.

In addition, many delegates also expressed concerns about barriers in mechanisms and policies for art and culture in general and dance in particular.

Dance training is a high-level and unique art training, however, the policy for dance art is still a difficult problem that makes many theaters and dance training facilities have to struggle to balance and calculate appropriately.

It can be said that in recent years, culture and art have received attention from the Party and the State. However, there are still many barriers that artists need to make efforts to adapt to and overcome.

People's Artist Ung Duy Thinh affirmed: "Artists need to contribute more before expecting to be recognized. Go to the end of creativity and dedication, artists will meet the public."

The discussion ended in an atmosphere of excitement and solidarity, with much hope for the bright future of Vietnamese dance art.

The opinions and proposals at the seminar will be an important basis for authorities, cultural and artistic managers to continue researching and implementing specific policies and action programs, aiming to further develop Vietnamese dance art and integrate more deeply with the world .
