The book is a collection of 43 articles by author Bui Quang Huy, which he wrote over a long period of time, some of which are over 30 years old. The author said that Thinking Near... Thinking Far... is not a book of literary research and criticism like his previously published works. He wrote about his book as follows: "It is mainly thoughts and discussions on political , cultural, historical, educational issues... locally, or a little more broadly. However, its focus is on people, intellectuals, cultural people...".
The light that radiates from a human being...
The first person mentioned by author Bui Quang Huy is President Ho Chi Minh , who always put education first and studied all his life. In the 4 parts of the book Think near... Think far..., the first part consists of 17 articles focusing on the views and lessons of President Ho Chi Minh on training the ethics, personality and style of cadres, "servants of the People". Each article is an aspect, a problem worth pondering in training revolutionary ethics, which was raised by Uncle Ho - the beloved leader - during the period of building and defending the country.
Through the analysis and deepening of the thinking of author Bui Quang Huy, those issues are brought into the current period of innovation, integration and development of the country and continue to be clarified by Ho Chi Minh's ideology, as well as the orientation and policies of the Party and the State. The articles show that Ho Chi Minh's ideology, as well as the thoughts and lessons he left for the country and the Vietnamese people, still have their original value and influence. That is the young man Nguyen Tat Thanh raising his two hands to affirm to his friend: "Here, here is the money... we will work. We will do anything to live and to go! Go to see France and other countries... After considering how they do, I will return to help our compatriots...".
Leader Nguyen Ai Quoc launched the Viet Minh Program before the August Revolution in 1945 with the determination: "A nation determined to leave the dark place", abolishing slave education . Through the Front, Party organizations, Women's Union, Youth Union..., he propagated about studying and training in a practical, close, easy-to-understand way. The good thing about author Bui Quang Huy is that he expressed it very briefly, concisely and easy-to-understand, reflecting President Ho Chi Minh's style and being suitable for the modern reading and feeling of today's readers.
Thinking Near… Thinking Far… is not an easy book to read, but it is worth reading for those who research, work in the cultural and social environment and for readers today.
Scholars of Bien Hoa - Dong Nai past and present
In the next two parts of the book Think Near... Think Far..., the author devotes himself to the land of Dong Nai, where he has been attached for nearly 40 years of his life with many experiences and deep feelings about the land and people. From general to specific, from the past to the present... that is the way researcher Bui Quang Huy leads when he writes about the land of learning and the learners of Bien Hoa - Dong Nai.
The second part consists of 13 articles presenting 13 stories related to the scholars of Bien Hoa - Dong Nai of the Southern land. The stories have very interesting and noteworthy content, although modern society may rarely mention them, for example, what did the Nguyen Dynasty historian write about Bien Hoa - Dong Nai?: "The scholars are studious, the people are diligent in weaving, the workers work in the city; the business depends on the land to make a living. They like to sing and dance, the custom is to worship Buddha (...). They celebrate each other in happy events, they visit each other in funerals, the people are loyal and kind...".
In the article Teachers in the Southern Land, the author mentioned famous teachers such as: Vo Truong Toan, Dang Duc Thuat, Nguyen Dinh Chieu... and the brilliant Golden Board listed the names of people from Bien Hoa such as: Huynh Van Tu, Tong Duc Hung, Pham Tuan, Dao Tri Kinh, Nguyen Van Tri... Author Bui Quang Huy mentioned it as a source of pride for the ancient land of Bien Hoa - Dong Nai and also as a spiritual foundation for new values and developments: Dong Nai scholars: talented and courageous, Entering the knowledge economy, viewed from... society!, Journalist, who are you?...
The third part consists of 10 articles, "specifically" naming the scholars of Bien Hoa - Dong Nai through the people who lived and devoted their entire knowledge to the land of Dong Nai. The articles are arranged in chronological order, first the life and career of King Quang Trung, who pacified the southern border and led troops to the North to repel the invaders and unify the country. The direct influence of King Quang Trung in Tran Bien is carefully recorded by the author; at the same time, the attitude, actions and ideals of King Quang Trung towards learning, cultivating real strength and treating scholars and talented people are also meticulously analyzed. Following that are the great examples in the "land of learning" Dong Nai, which through the historical process have developed comprehensively such as: Trinh Hoai Duc, Dao Tri Phu, Ho Van Tam..., to Huynh Van Binh, Do Huu Tai, Nguyen Son Hung... They have created a new image for Dong Nai intellectuals through the periods, showing the inheritance and promotion of knowledge, ethics and sincerity of the "time-conscious, sensitive" people who always strive for the community.
The author has compiled issues related to Dong Nai intellectuals past and present, thereby seeing their contributions to the development of the land (Bien Hoa - Dong Nai) in particular and the country in general. In the article Human resources and... human resources! the intellectual human factor is strongly affirmed by author Bui Quang Huy: "It is impossible to say everything that needs to be said about human resource training. However, among many solutions, the most urgent is still the right decision and raising awareness of the whole society about the vital issue of industrialization and modernization".
Wandering, going and coming...
The fourth part is Russian Travelogue: Looking far... Looking near. Author Bui Quang Huy recorded his trip to Russia, an impressive journey of beauty, scientific spirit, and the eternal vitality of knowledge and creative aspirations. Without writing the entire journey, the author chose Moscow, the capital of Russia, where the heart carries the soul and appearance of Russia, to write about history, war, culture and poetry. He opened his heart, immersed in the beauty of late spring and early summer of Russia and was interested in the world cultural heritage (Saint Petersburg city), the Monarch (Pyotr the Great) - the immortal names that make up the "Venice of the North".
Besides, Moscow - the soul, heart and eternal flame of Russia; Dubna - devastated by war has been reborn and developed, rising to become a city of science. Through that, the soul, knowledge, poetry... of a country that is very close and friendly to Vietnam has been recorded by author Bui Quang Huy in a sincere, emotional but also concise and calm way, making readers feel the scientific spirit in the soul of a Vietnamese intellectual.
Although this work is very different from previous books by researcher Bui Quang Huy, when he exploited topics and stories about Vietnamese intellectuals and scholars from Bien Hoa - Dong Nai; but Thinking near... Thinking far... is still in the vein of his thoughts and concerns about his homeland and country. Besides the special topic of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, especially in the field of cadres contacting and working with people; the remaining topics of the book have focused on general and specific issues of Dong Nai, suggesting many issues of building and developing people in the new era today. The author writes with pride in the foundation, cultural and intellectual treasures of ancient Dong Nai, along with all the trust and expectation in the innovation and development of the present and the future, especially the abundant knowledge and resources in many aspects of Dong Nai today...
