Ca Mau is a province with a large Khmer population, mainly residing in coastal communes and wards, and border areas; the lives of a segment of the population remain difficult, and access to healthcare is limited.

Understanding this, over the years, especially during the Chôl Chnăm Thmây New Year, the Party Committee and the Command of the Border Guard Force of Ca Mau province have directed units to coordinate with local authorities to implement many practical activities to care for the material and spiritual lives of the Khmer people.

Every year, on the occasion of the traditional Chôl Chnăm Thmây New Year of the Khmer people, the Ca Mau Provincial Border Guard Command organizes a delegation to visit and extend New Year greetings to the monks and Khmer people at temples in the border area.

From the beginning of April, border guard posts proactively developed plans and organized working groups to visit villages and hamlets to offer New Year greetings at temples. The units focused on visiting and giving gifts to monks and influential figures in the Khmer community – a core force in disseminating information and mobilizing the people to comply with the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws, contributing to strengthening national unity.

Venerable Thich Duong Quan, Abbot of Siem Can Pagoda (Hiep Thanh Ward), received New Year's gifts and expressed his gratitude for the concern and support of the officers and soldiers of the Ca Mau Border Guard towards the Khmer people; he also affirmed that he will continue to work alongside the border guard forces and local authorities in building increasingly prosperous villages and hamlets .
