QTO - With the tradition of "helping each other" of the Vietnamese people, after 65 days of launching, the program to support the Cuban people in Quang Tri province has received the enthusiastic response of millions of hearts. In particular, with the active support of all levels, sectors, socio-political organizations and the people in the province, the program has created a deep impression of humanity, solidarity, sharing, contributing to sharing difficulties and supporting the Cuban people; at the same time, shining the faithful and steadfast international solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba.

Spreading love

Ms. Le Thi Luu, a retired cadre in Nam Thanh residential group, Dong Hoi ward, shared: “In the past, Cuba has supported Vietnam a lot, both materially and spiritually, including many practical projects, such as the Vietnam-Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital. That is a very valuable support from the Cuban people for Vietnam. Therefore, when I learned that the Cuban people were in difficulty, I deducted a part of my pension to support through the account of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (CTĐ)”.

Head of the Front Committee of Nam Thanh Residential Group Pham Thi Thanh Tam said: "Within just 5 days of implementing the program to support the Cuban people, 230 households in the residential group voluntarily contributed over 40 million VND, with the desire to "save small amounts to make a big amount" to help our friends overcome difficulties soon."

“After the campaign to support the Cuban people was launched, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Dong Hoi ward became a “bridge” of affection and received the cooperation and support of agencies, units, organizations and individuals to open their arms of kindness, spreading humanitarian values ​​and noble international affection to the Cuban people. At the end of the program, Dong Hoi ward received a total amount of over 1.3 billion VND. This is a noble gesture, demonstrating the tradition of solidarity and loyal attachment of the Vietnamese people in general, and the people of Dong Hoi ward in particular, towards the Cuban people in difficult times,” said Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Hoi ward Bui Quang Vinh.

Many hearts turned to Cuba through each donation, each specific response activity in the locality has created a strong influence, receiving a deep response from all classes of people. That is the image of many families after receiving 100,000 VND in support money from the State on the occasion of National Day September 2, immediately transferring the entire amount to the Cuban people through the account of the Vietnam Red Cross Association; or the image of a Dong Hoi market trader who, upon seeing on Facebook, learned that there was a movement to support the Cuban people, so he used the profit from a day of shopping to support...

In particular, ethnic minorities in border communes, despite many difficulties and shortages, still saved and collected money to support the Cuban people. Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dan Hoa commune, Ho Xy, informed: "The Bru-Van Kieu and Chut people living in 28 villages agreed to contribute little and much, contributing more than 125 million VND to support the Cuban people."

It can be said that in 65 days of campaigning, from poor rural areas to agencies and businesses - every heart is together writing the story of 65 years of love. Every contribution, no matter how small, is a noble gesture, demonstrating the noble international spirit, and is also a testament to the loyal solidarity between the two peoples of Vietnam and Cuba, continued and spread by today's generation through meaningful and humane actions.

Imprint of solidarity and sharing spirit

According to Vice President of the Provincial Red Cross Association Nguyen Thi Ngoc Mai, the program to support the Cuban people with the theme "65 years of Vietnam-Cuba friendship" chaired and advised by the Vietnam Red Cross Association will take place within 65 days (from August 13 to October 16, 2025) with the goal of mobilizing at least 65 billion VND nationwide to support the Cuban people to overcome some of the difficulties. With the significance and active participation of the media agencies, after 30 hours of launching, the program has achieved 100% of the initial target.

The program “65 years of Vietnam-Cuba friendship” through the Provincial Red Cross Association has officially ended. With the spirit of “sharing food and clothes”, every Quang Tri citizen is always ready to share and help not only the people in the country but also comrades and international friends when facing difficulties. Thereby, contributing to spreading the humanitarian spirit and friendship of the Quang Tri people in particular and Vietnam in general to international friends; at the same time, raising awareness and educating the tradition of international solidarity for the younger generation.

In Quang Tri province alone, as of October 16, 2025, the program has received support from 76/78 communes and wards through the account of the Provincial Red Cross Society, reaching over 29.3 billion VND. Currently, Quang Tri province is the leading locality in the country in terms of the amount of money donated to the Cuban people through the receiving channel of the Provincial Red Cross Society. Notably, a number of organizations, units, and localities, such as: Dong Hoi Ward (1.3 billion VND), Le Thuy Commune (1.1 billion VND), Bac Gianh Ward (over 733 million VND), Hoan Lao Commune (734 million VND), Department of Education and Training and affiliated units (735 million VND), Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee (649 million VND), VNPT Quang Binh Trade Union (368 million VND) ... have promoted their pioneering role in spreading the spirit and meaning of the program to support the Cuban people.

“This is a practical activity to support the Cuban people to overcome difficulties caused by natural disasters, epidemics and blockade and embargo policies. The cooperation, companionship and sharing from the kind hearts of units, organizations, businesses and individuals in the whole province have contributed to lighting the flame of love across the country, sending all the feelings of the people of Quang Tri to the brotherly country of Cuba, nurturing the everlasting close relationship between Vietnam and Cuba”, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Mai affirmed.
