While fishing at sea, fishermen caught a giant fish covered in "tattoos".
According to Metro, this fish was caught by fishermen in Misamis Occidental province, Philippines. It has intricate "tattoos" with interwoven crowns and shields, letters and leaves.
The fishermen placed the strange fish next to a normal fish and took pictures to show the difference.
The fish has a strange "tattoo".
Since the image was posted on local TV channel GMA News, it has attracted thousands of comments from people trying to figure out what happened.
One possibility is that it was actually tattooed and then released back into the sea by someone.
However, a more plausible answer was offered by Steve Clark, who wrote: "Perhaps this was caused by some kind of debris or fabric that got stuck to the fish and over time imprinted this pattern on it."
Another commenter added: "There are many things in our world that we don't know, especially under the sea."
