Nhiu Co San is a mountain peak located in Sang Ma Sao commune, Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province, about 60km from Sa Pa. This mountain peak is 2,965m high, the 9th highest in Vietnam, and is classified by trekking enthusiasts as a mountain with moderate difficulty.

To reach the top of this mountain, visitors will travel by car to the gathering point about 10km from Nhiu Co San village, Sang Ma Sao commune.
From the meeting point, tourists will be picked up by local motorbike taxi drivers to Nhiu Co San village. The rocky and steep road makes many people feel scared because of the feeling of sitting on the back of the motorbike, jolting like riding a horse.

Nhiu Co San Village is an ideal starting point because of its wild landscape with many ancient peach blossom trees. On sunny days, visitors will have the opportunity to capture beautiful photos.

Recently, Ms. Phuong Hong (blue shirt, Hanoi) and her group of friends decided to conquer Nhiu Co San peak in 2 days and 1 night.
The weather was not really favorable because for a week before the group set off, Bat Xat district had frequent rains. The day the group started climbing the mountain, it was still raining heavily. However, the group was still determined to trek through the primeval forest to reach the highest peak.

On the way to Nhiu Co San peak, the group of tourists will pass Ong Chua waterfall. This waterfall is about 5km from the starting point.

Like many other groups, Ms. Hong's group stopped for lunch at Ong Chua waterfall before continuing their journey 5km further along the forest road to the resting hut.

Trekking Nhiu Co San on rainy days will increase the difficulty many times. Therefore, tourists must carefully move step by step through the slippery slopes full of mud and rocks.

The path through primeval forests or cardamom-growing mountains makes climbers excited and forget all the hardships of each step.

From February to April is the season of beautiful blooming rhododendrons. Therefore, visitors have the opportunity to admire the bright red rhododendrons along the way.

Rich vegetation, lush green cardamom forests, primeval forests, large tree trunks, and constantly changing terrain are attractive points when conquering Nhiu Co San peak.
At the end of the first day, tourists will stop at a rest house located at an altitude of about 2,500m. These rest houses have no electricity, no phone signal, only spring water for daily use. Therefore, the group of tourists can experience moments of being immersed in nature, chatting with each other.

After a night, the group woke up at 3am, crossed the night forest, to conquer the remaining 1km stretch with an elevation gain of nearly 500m.
"This road is short but steep, so it took us nearly 2 hours to travel. To catch the sunrise, we had to leave the hut before dawn. The road was slippery, so we had to be careful," said Thu Thao (left), a tourist from Hanoi.

At around 6am, the group of tourists climbed to the highest point of Nhiu Co San mountain. Due to the rain and thick fog, they could not fully admire the beauty of the sunrise.
However, at some point, they still saw the sun hidden in the mysterious clouds. After enjoying the feeling of victory, Ms. Hong and her friends returned to the hut to rest, have lunch and start the journey back down the mountain.

From the experience of conquering Nhiu Co San, many tourists said that it is necessary to prepare good physical strength and train endurance before going to avoid cramps, muscle tension, etc. Besides that, there is a high determination and support from companions.
