According to initial information, at around 4:00 p.m. on June 2, people in Ma Da commune (Vinh Cuu district) discovered a herd of about 4 elephants moving from the forest of Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve (at group 1, hamlet 4, Ma Da commune) into the area where people were destroying crops and plants.
At around 9:00 p.m. on June 2, the herd of elephants continued to move to the garden area of Mr. LVT's house (the household that received the forestry land contract with Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve).
Herds of wild elephants often appear and destroy people's crops and property.
At around 6am on June 3, people picking mushrooms discovered Mr. T.'s dead body in the above-mentioned area and reported it to the local authorities. The authorities then coordinated to examine the scene and determined the initial cause of Mr. T.'s death was due to being attacked by an elephant.
In recent years, herds of wild elephants have frequently appeared in the forest edge and near residential areas of Vinh Cuu district (under the management area of Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve) to search for food and destroy crops and people's property.
