At 9 PM on March 9th (Vietnam time), the final night of the 71st Miss World competition took place in India, with 112 contestants from countries and territories around the world competing.
Miss Huynh Nguyen Mai Phuong - representing Vietnam - is competing in this competition.
Before the final night, the Miss World Organization announced that Mai Phương had won the Multimedia Challenge, as voted on by the audience.
Winning this round means Mai Phương will advance to the top 40 overall.
However, luck was not on her side, and she stopped at the top 40.
Ahead of the competition, the Miss World organizers announced several changes to this year's format. Accordingly, the final night will select the top 40, top 12, top 8, and top 4.
The top 12 and top 8 are selected with at least two contestants from each region. Each year, Miss World only selects a winner and one runner-up.
The top 8 finalists included representatives from: Brazil, Trinidad and Tobago, Botswana, Uganda, Czech Republic, Great Britain, India, and Lebanon.
Next, the contestants moved on to the Q&A round, to select the top 4, which included: Trinidad and Tobago, Botswana, the Czech Republic, and Lebanon.
Contestants from the Czech Republic and the UK received the question: "What is one of the issues related to women's healthcare that you would like to discuss?"
The beauty queen from the Czech Republic shared: "I will talk about the lack of empathy, especially for women from impoverished areas. They are always hesitant to talk about maternal health or their own health. I want women to be independent and strong enough to speak out on this issue."
The Miss World final lasted until the early morning of March 10th (Vietnam time).
In the final results, the 71st Miss World crown was awarded to Krystyna Pyszková from the Czech Republic. The first runner-up title went to the contestant from Lebanon.
Krystyna Pyszková, 24 years old, is 1.8m tall and graduated with a law degree from Karl University in Prague, Czech Republic. She is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree at MCI Innsbruck, Austria.
