Nearly 40 years pursuing art

Born into a family with an artistic tradition, he was exposed to Cheo singing from a very young age. At the age of 16, he joined the Thai Binh Cheo Troupe (now the Thai Binh Cheo Theatre), starting his professional artistic career. He was not only proficient in percussion but also knew how to play many other instruments such as the erhu, zither, etc., contributing to enriching his performances.

Coming to the art scene from supporting roles, Meritorious Artist Dinh Cuong gradually asserted himself with his emotional Cheo singing voice, excellently performing ancient Cheo melodies. Along with Cheo, he also successfully performed Chau Van and Xam singing - folk art forms that require high technique and the ability to convey strong emotions. Many of his famous Chau Van and Xam songs left a strong impression on the public, such as: Offering Chau To; Nghia me cong cha; Ngoi buon nho me ta xua...

Not only famous for his excellent performance in traditional art forms, Meritorious Artist Dinh Cuong also actively contributed to composing lyrics for these works. He composed and performed many songs, contributing to enriching the nation's musical treasure. Typical examples include: Hat van On cha, On nguoi vi nuoc sa ki; Hat cheo Ngoi chua que huong... In addition, he also adapted poetry into songs, such as the poem Chan que by poet Nguyen Binh, which he performed with a unique Hat van melody.

According to Meritorious Artist Dinh Cuong, there are many differences between Cheo singing, Chau Van singing, and Xam singing. To perform many genres, in addition to talent, artists must constantly practice, be dedicated, and "sacrifice" for art. The fact that he was invited to Bien Hoa - Dong Nai to perform Cheo and Chau Van shows that Dong Nai is very interested in traditional art. Therefore, each piece of music he serves the audience here focuses on fully conveying messages, expressing all ranges of emotions.

This is not only an honor and pride, but also a source of motivation for me to continue to strive every day, to perform well so as not to disappoint the expectations and love of the audience” - Meritorious Artist Dinh Cuong shared.

Talking about his tours, especially performances in the southern provinces, Meritorious Artist Dinh Cuong said that he always hopes to have many opportunities to go to Bien Hoa - Dong Nai to sing Cheo and Chau Van for the audience.
