On February 1, information from the Ninh Binh Department of Tourism said that after receiving information reflecting on an American female tourist "accusing" a boatman at Tam Coc tourist area (managed and exploited by Trang An Investment - Trade - Service Company Limited) of "asking" for money and forcing her to buy goods, this unit conducted an inspection and clarification.

Accordingly, on January 29-30, the Ninh Binh Department of Tourism Inspectorate worked with the Ninh Hai People's Committee, Ninh Hai Commune Police, and the Tam Coc - Bich Dong Tourist Area Management Board.
The results determined that the incident occurred on January 17, and the female boatman was "accused" of asking for money and forcing tourists to buy goods with boat number 37 (each boat is numbered in order).
Reporting to the authorities, this woman admitted to selling goods while rowing the boat, but on January 17, because it was raining, she did not sell, nor did she stop by another boat to force tourists to buy goods as reported.
This woman also affirmed that she did not "ask" for money from tourists, and was just rowing the boat normally without any superficial attitude.
However, Ninh Binh Department of Tourism determined that the female boatman selling goods while rowing the boat was not in accordance with regulations (regulations state that while rowing the boat, the boatman is not allowed to sell goods or solicit tourists to buy goods), so the Tam Coc - Bich Dong Tourist Area Management Board made a record of this behavior to base on the village's convention and the labor contract signed between the boatman and Trang An Investment - Trade - Service Company Limited for handling.
From the above verification results, Ninh Binh Department of Tourism has requested the Tam Coc - Bich Dong tourist area management board to respond to those who reported the incident to verify the facts.
Previously, information appeared on social media about an American female tourist complaining about being "asked" for money and forced to buy goods while taking a boat to visit the scenic spots in Tam Coc tourist area. The American female tourist has now left Vietnam.
