Appearing on the stage of Tram Yeu Thuong with the song Mother's Dream , Dang Hoang Minh partly talked about the sacrifices and worries that his mother carried on her thin shoulders.
When asked about what he likes most about his mother, Minh shared: "My mother is very gentle and cooks very well. She always does everything I want and what I like most is that she teaches lessons in a way that is easy to understand, making my studies easier even though I cannot see everything. My mother works part-time because she also has to take care of my uncle."
As the pair of legs that carry her younger brother around the world, Ms. Tran Thi Xuan is also the support of the whole family. The willpower of the 9X mother will be told in Tram Yeu Thuong with the theme "Peaceful Support" broadcast at 10:00 on March 23 on VTV1 channel.
In 2016, the story of a sister carrying her younger brother to school for nearly 10 years brought tears to many people. Sister Xuan weighed only 40 kg but carried her younger brother, who weighed nearly 60 kg, to school every day. At that time, Tuan Anh - Sister Xuan's younger brother, was a 2nd year student at the University of Technology ( Hanoi National University).
As the only son in the family, Tuan Anh (27 years old) unfortunately suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which is incurable and gradually atrophies. Supporting his brother's desire to learn, Ms. Xuan became Tuan Anh's legs, persistently carrying him to school. Until she got married and had children, Ms. Xuan asked her husband's family to let her live at her parents' house so that she could continue to take her brother to school every day, pursuing a university degree.
Ms. Tran Thi Xuan became her younger brother's legs, persistently carrying him to school.
Be the legs of the younger brother, be the eyes of the son
Talking about her son's situation, Ms. Tran Thi Xuan shed tears: "The day Tuan Anh - my younger brother graduated from university, was the day my son and I were hospitalized because he was diagnosed with lymphoma. From a healthy and active child, Hoang Minh's eyes gradually opened and he could no longer see anything at the age of 4."
Her father died early from cancer, her mother suffered from a hernia and could not do heavy work, the family finances weighed heavily on Xuan's shoulders. Now the burden is even heavier when her son will never see the light of day again.
"When the doctor said there was no hope of curing my child's eyes, I was devastated and shocked. At that time, I just wanted to hug my child and jump off a bridge to commit suicide, because all the misfortunes kept coming to my family.
At that time, Minh advised his mother that the virus would only bother him a little, and then he would see everything again. During the days in the hospital, witnessing more pitiful situations, I gradually calmed down and thought that I had to be strong to become a support for my child," Ms. Xuan confided.
Hoang Minh’s journey to becoming a student at Nguyen Dinh Chieu School in Hanoi is the tireless effort of both mother and son. As much effort as her son put into learning Braille, Ms. Xuan spent as much time with him as she did. Even though the school is dozens of kilometers away from home, on both sunny and rainy days, Ms. Xuan has never let her son be late for school.
She always kept in mind that her child could not see the light but she would not let him be illiterate. Not only did she try to educate her child, Ms. Xuan went everywhere to ask for piano lessons for Hoang Minh with the hope that the melodies would bring joy and color to his life.
Having received many rejections because teaching music to blind children is very difficult and time-consuming, the 9X mother never gave up.
Luck smiled on Ms. Xuan when teacher Pham Anh Nga agreed to teach Minh piano completely free of charge. For the past 2 years, regardless of whether she was busy or sick, Ms. Nga has never stopped teaching Hoang Minh. The teacher's unexpected appearance brought many emotions to the studio of Tram Yeu Thuong .
"For blind people to play the piano, it takes a lot of time and patience. The important thing is not whether you can see the keys or not, but the most important thing is the feeling in your soul. During the process of teaching Minh, I discovered that he has a great ear for music and Minh's determination is something that I admire very much," Ms. Nga revealed.
When asked about his future dream, Hoang Minh hopes to become an office worker because he has learned about computers and is very proficient in using them. As for Ms. Xuan, what she wants most is to have a stable job to support her family because her son still has to undergo regular radiation therapy, and her younger brother, although he has graduated, is bedridden and has to use a breathing tube.
Ms. Xuan is the support for her son and the whole family, so what is the support for this hard-working woman to be confident and steadfast in overcoming the events? All will be answered in the Love Station with the theme "Peaceful Support" aired at 10:00 on March 23 on VTV1 channel.
