On November 19, in Hanoi , the Vietnam Association of the Blind held the opening ceremony of the final round of the 3rd National Informatics Competition for the Blind in 2025, with the theme "Vietnamese Blind People: Mastering Technology - Steadfast in the Digital Age".

In 2025, following the success of the previous two IT competitions, the Vietnam Association of the Blind continues to organize the 3rd National IT Competition for the Blind.
Units in the Association have actively responded by organizing local competitions, training and selecting officials and members to participate in the national final round.
The contest received attention from the Ministry of Science and Technology , People's Committees, Departments of Science and Technology of provinces and cities, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Norwegian Embassy in Vietnam and Vietinbank. In particular, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung supported the prize money, creating great motivation for the contestants to overcome difficulties and confidently conquer new technological levels in the future.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of the National Digital Transformation Department (Ministry of Science and Technology) Hoang Huu Hanh, Co-Head of the Organizing Committee and Co-Head of the Jury of the Contest, emphasized: "The contest is not only an intellectual playground, but also an opportunity to blind people access and apply information technology to study, work and life. Through that, we are together building an inclusive, barrier-free society where everyone has the opportunity to develop their abilities and contribute to the country."
In the digital age, technology is the key to opening up a world of knowledge and opportunities. The contest helps contestants practice skills, increase confidence, expand communication and prove that the blind can completely master technology, integrate and succeed in modern society.
The contestants are all examples of perseverance, creativity and the will to overcome difficulties. Each action, each test is a testament to the power of intelligence, to the belief that there is no limit to the desire to rise up. That spirit will continue to spread, strongly inspiring the community.
This year, there are 39 contestants participating in the 2025 national competition, including union officials, young members, students, and pupils. Each contestant will participate in a competition specifically for each group of people: union officials; young members, students, pupils, and groups participating in the creative product competition.
In particular, the creative product competition is for contestants with useful software and applications to support blind people in studying, living and working. This year's creative product competition attracted the participation of young officials, members and some individuals outside the Association with useful software and applications such as: Application to read bus numbers for the visually impaired; software to manage massage establishments; assistant for the disabled but not useless...

Vice President of the Vietnam Blind Association Dinh Viet Anh said: The contest takes place in the context that the country is promoting comprehensive digital transformation, and sectors and levels are actively implementing Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and creativity. national digital transformation, this is also an opportunity for the visually impaired in Vietnam to increase access to digital knowledge and participate equally in the country's overall progress.
At the same time, it also sends a strong message to the community: blind people can completely master technology if they are given support and access to appropriate solutions. Thereby promoting the community's interest in the process of information technology development and digital transformation of blind people in Vietnam.
Recognizing the importance of information technology for the lives of blind people, since 2002, the Vietnam Association of the Blind has implemented programs and activities to create a foundation for developing information technology throughout the Association such as: organizing training courses, collaborating with schools of information technology to open training classes for teachers of information technology for provincial and municipal associations to gradually bring knowledge and skills in this field to the blind.
Since then, training courses, instructions on how to use computers and smartphones, and activities to donate technology equipment with the support of organizations and individuals have been widely deployed throughout the country...
Ms. Dinh Viet Anh also added: "Up to now, information technology has been widely applied in all levels of the Association, more than 20 thousand blind people have used computers and smartphones proficiently and consider them close companions in studying, working, entertaining, connecting and improving the quality of their lives."
Do Trung Minh, a second-year student of the Faculty of Social Work, Vietnam Youth Academy, shared: "The knowledge I gained in the IT class at the Center for Training and Rehabilitation for the Blind has helped me a lot in my daily life. Thanks to that, I can access electronic textbooks for university studies, or access online public service portals, proactively book technology cars to go to school or work part-time. Information technology has really changed my life a lot."
The Organizing Committee will award two First prizes, four Second prizes, six Third prizes, 20 Encouragement prizes, and the Prize for Creative Software and the Special Prize to the contestants.
