The man who broke Usain Bolt's great milestone is now a mansion owner

Nesta Carter's name is associated with Jamaican athletics glory, but it was also him who caused Usain Bolt to lose the greatest milestone of his career, the legendary "triple-triple" at the Olympics.

Carter (left) made Bolt miss the legendary "triple-triple", winning 3 gold medals in 3 consecutive Olympics.

After two doping convictions, including one that cost Bolt his 4x100m gold medal at Beijing 2008, Carter retired from running and took an unexpected turn. He lives a private life and makes his living through the Airbnb platform. At 39, Carter runs a luxury villa in Jamaica.

Back at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the world was amazed by Usain Bolt's amazing performance when he won 3 gold medals in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay. It was the first time Bolt won 3 gold medals at an Olympics, before repeating the feat in London 2012 and Rio 2016. However, that joy did not last too long.

In 2017, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) retested 454 random blood samples from previous Olympics using more modern technology. One of them was Nesta Carter's sample. Carter tested positive for metilhexanamina, a stimulant related to amphetamines, commonly used as a dietary supplement to enhance sexual performance.

Carter, who ran the first leg of the 4x100m relay in 2008, was suspended for three months. By law, the entire team would have been stripped of their medals. As a result, Michael Frater, Asafa Powell and Bolt himself were implicated, even though they were not doping. Bolt's triple-triple dream was officially over.

In a 2017 interview, Bolt told CNN : "I never spoke to him again. But I'm not angry. Those are things that happen in life. I don't have any bad feelings towards Carter." That was the last time Bolt was seen mentioning Carter.

Carter and Bolt represented Jamaica in Beijing in 2008.

In 2021, Carter was caught up in another doping scandal. This time, he was found to have used Clomifene, a drug used to stimulate ovulation in women that acts like estrogen. For his second violation, Carter was banned from competing for four years, virtually ending his career.

After that fall, Carter disappeared from the sports world. No longer on the track, no longer appearing at international events, he lived a private life. But recently, the Jamaican media unexpectedly discovered that Carter ran a vacation rental villa on the Airbnb platform.

The villa, named "Carter's Nest Villa", is located in Kingston, the capital of Jamaica. It has 3 bedrooms, is decorated in a luxurious style, and is fully equipped. Each night's stay costs between 200 and 240 euros depending on the time of year. In particular, visitors can pay an extra amount to be welcomed and chatted directly by the former Olympic athlete.

Carter’s journey reflects the bitter turn of a professional sports career. For many, he will forever be associated with the “slip” that cost Bolt his great milestone. But for Carter, perhaps he is simply trying to write a new chapter in a gentler, more down-to-earth way.
