NEW HEIGHTS
Dr. Phan Bich Thien is the one who came up with the idea and is also the head of the organizing committee of the Vietnamese Women's Forum in Europe. This is the first time a forum for Vietnamese women abroad has been organized on a large scale, gathering more than 250 delegates from 21 countries in Europe, Vietnam, and Korea.
The forum was officially sponsored by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and accompanied by the Vietnamese Embassy in Hungary. The event welcomed former Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, Vice President of the Vietnam Women's Union Nguyen Thi Minh Huong, President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society Bui Thi Hoa, and President of the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Children's Rights Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa. Vietnamese Ambassadors to many European countries also attended the forum. In particular, Permanent Vice President of the Hungarian National Assembly Márta Mátrai also attended and delivered a welcoming speech.
With nearly 20 presentations and speeches by delegates from countries such as Germany, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, and Vietnam, the forum spoke about diverse topics and hot topics. Such as women in the field of science and technology, developing themselves to keep up with the progress of society, preserving national cultural identity, the mission of passing on to the next generation, honoring the Vietnamese values of Vietnamese women abroad...
Not only for the Vietnamese community, the Vietnamese Women's Forum in Europe has made its mark on Hungarian and international society. The major National Daily (Nemzet) and the prestigious Hungarian TV channel TV2, as well as the English-language newspaper ScanAsia in Asia have all reported on it.

"What is special is that the forum was held at the Senate Chamber of the Hungarian Parliament . This is the first time an event of overseas Vietnamese has taken place at the headquarters of the highest legislative body of the host country. This demonstrates the Hungarian Parliament's interest in the Vietnamese women's community in Hungary. At the same time, it affirms that the Vietnamese Women's Association in Hungary, as the host organization, has gained a certain prestige with the society as well as the government of the host country. This is proof that Vietnamese women in Hungary as well as in Europe have integrated and affirmed their position," Dr. Phan Bich Thien shared.
"In addition to the success in terms of scale and content, the organization was highly appreciated by the delegates and guests attending. I was very impressed with the meaningful encouragement of former Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh: Today's forum marked an important step forward to elevate the activities of Vietnamese women in Europe to a new level," Dr. Phan Bich Thien excitedly said.

DEDICATED TO THE COMMUNITY
In August 2022, during her visit to Ho Chi Minh City, Dr. Phan Bich Thien visited the Thanh Nien Newspaper office and had a friendly conversation with journalist Nguyen Ngoc Toan, Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper. Soon after, learning about the newspaper's program "Continuing Life with My Child", Dr. Phan Bich Thien became a sponsor for a 10-year-old girl who lost her father during the Covid-19 pandemic until she turned 18. The girl is living with her biological mother in Binh Duong. Up to now, not only does she send money to support her education, Dr. Phan Bich Thien is also like a foster mother, regularly asking about her and encouraging her to study well.
Notably, in her positions as President of the Vietnamese Women's Association in Hungary; Vice President of the Vietnamese Association in Hungary; President of the Foundation for Hungary - Vietnam Relations, Dr. Phan Bich Thien and these organizations have had many meaningful activities with the Vietnamese community, especially during the time of the Covid-19 pandemic in the world.
When Covid-19 first appeared in Hungary, the Vietnamese Association in this country mobilized people to donate to support frontline hospitals. When the epidemic broke out in Vietnam, the Association continued to call on people to donate and send back home both cash and medical supplies worth up to 10 billion VND. Dr. Phan Bich Thien personally donated 380 million VND to the Covid-19 Vaccine Fund, directly supporting Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces of Dong Nai and Binh Duong.
Dr. Phan Bich Thien (55 years old) was born and studied in Hanoi, then started her career in Hungary. She is a member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term VII (2009-2014); term VIII (2014-2019) and term IX (2019-2024).
As the owner of the Fried Castle Hotel - one of the best rated hotels in Hungary and the Vietnam Market Director of the Gamma Group (Hungary), Dr. Phan Bich Thien was twice voted as the typical woman of the month by the prestigious Hungarian magazine Successful Women. The first time was in October 2020 for her success in leading the business through the difficult period of Covid-19 and most recently after the Vietnamese Women's Forum in Europe.
Dr. Phan Bich Thien's two daughters, Mylan and Lyanh, are both excellent students and former athletes of the Hungarian national synchronized swimming team. Mylan is an architect in the UK, while Lyanh is a student at Oxford University (UK). Born and raised in Hungary, working and studying in the UK, Mylan and Lyanh both speak Vietnamese very well and always preserve and promote Vietnamese traditions in their family.
"During the war in Ukraine, the Association supported Vietnamese people from Ukraine to take refuge in Hungary. When the first groups of Vietnamese people from Ukraine went to Hungary, the women in the Vietnamese Women's Association in Hungary voluntarily closed their shops, stopped doing business to buy food, and cooked hot meals for the refugees. The women supported and helped the people day and night, voluntarily contributing their efforts and money, and caring for each adult and child. Within 10 days, the Vietnamese Embassy in Hungary and the Vietnamese community in Hungary supported more than 700 Vietnamese people from Ukraine," Dr. Phan Bich Thien recounted.
The Foundation for Hungary - Vietnam Relations has also done many meaningful and practical things to promote the homeland as well as strengthen the relationship between Vietnam and Hungary; mobilized and coordinated with the Hungarian authorities to successfully build the Hungary - Vietnam Friendship Monument with the bronze drum symbol in Paks city. This is the only bronze drum symbol currently in the center of a city in Europe.
