Thuy Linh has jumped two places, from 22nd to 20th in the world, thanks to her impressive performance at the 2025 Canada Open, where she won the runner-up position in the women's singles. This is also the goal that the Phu Tho native set last year but has not been able to achieve.
Notably, Thuy Linh is also currently in the top 10 of the BWF World Tour Finals 2025 rankings. If she maintains her ranking and enters the top 8, she will become the second Vietnamese badminton player, after Nguyen Tien Minh, to participate in the prestigious year-end tournament, which has the highest total prize money in the international competition system.
Although only half a season has passed, Thuy Linh has completed her goal of returning to the top 20, affirming her efforts and stable performance.
However, after winning the silver medal at the Canada Open, the 27-year-old tennis player decided to withdraw from the 2025 China Open (taking place from July 22 to 27) to focus on recovering his physical and professional strength.
According to the plan, in August, Thuy Linh will return to participate in the 2025 World Badminton Championship in France. The current ranking will bring many advantages to Thuy Linh when the organizers divide the upcoming competition branches.
At present, Vietnamese badminton has also recorded positive signals from male players. Nguyen Hai Dang rose 6 places to 61st in the world, surpassing Le Duc Phat (62nd) to become the number 1 male player in Vietnam, showing the remarkable rise of domestic badminton in the international arena.
