Dinh Bac talks about Tran Thanh Trung's integration into U23 Vietnam

“Thanh Trung is cheerful and integrates very quickly. The whole team lives and practices very closely together, so Trung does not encounter any difficulties. He is a quality player, I hope Thanh Trung will play well in the upcoming matches,” Dinh Bac shared with the media before the afternoon practice session of September 1 of U23 Vietnam.

In the squad of U23 Vietnam participating in the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers, 22/24 players are the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 champions nearly a month ago. The two new players named by coach Kim Sang-sik are Thanh Nhan and Thanh Trung.

In fact, Thanh Nhan has been a mainstay of the Vietnam U23 team in recent years, but due to injury, he missed the Southeast Asian U23 tournament in July. Meanwhile, although this is his first time participating in the Vietnam U23 team, Tran Thanh Trung is highly regarded. Before returning to Vietnam, he played more than 30 matches in the past 4 years at the U17, U19 and U21 Bulgaria levels. European youth tournaments are much more difficult than Asian tournaments.

Although there are only a few days to focus on the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers, Dinh Bac commented that most of the players have participated in the 2025 U23 Southeast Asian tournament together, so there will not be many changes. "The whole team is determined and focused on achieving good results in the next 3 matches," said the player on the CAHN payroll.

In addition to strengthening their squad, U23 Vietnam also carefully studied their opponents in the group. Dinh Bac emphasized that the whole team has the utmost respect for all 3 opponents, but first is the opening match with U23 Bangladesh.

“We are determined to have a good opening match, bringing joy to the fans on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day,” he said. “We are proud and happy to compete on this meaningful occasion. The whole team will be determined to win to give to the fans.”

Finally, Dinh Bac called on the audience to come to the stadium to cheer for U23 Vietnam: “The encouragement from the audience is a great source of strength. I hope everyone will give the team more motivation to compete well and win a ticket to the U23 Asian final round.”

In the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers, Vietnam U23 will host Group C with opponents Yemen, Bangladesh and Singapore. According to the schedule, the opening match on September 3rd will see coach Kim Sang-sik and his team face Bangladesh U23.

On September 6, U23 Vietnam will compete with U23 Singapore and face U23 Yemen on September 9. According to the format, only the group winner can qualify for the final round.
