This year’s tournament is organized with the aim of promoting bowling practice in localities and thereby evaluating training and coaching to build bowling athletes of units. From there, discover outstanding athletes to nurture and supplement the national team.
2023 National Club Bowling Championship attracts many female athletes
This year's tournament attracted 91 athletes (60 men, 31 women) from 8 units including Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Can Tho, Vung Tau, Ninh Binh, Binh Duong . The athletes competed in all 20 events including 13 for men and 7 for women. In the Master competition, 24 male athletes and 18 female athletes with the highest scores (regardless of hook or spin) will be selected to compete on the final day of the tournament on October 8.
Ms. Bui Kim Ha, General Secretary of the Vietnam Bowling Federation, said: "This is the first time the federation has organized a tournament and I am very happy to see so many units participating, especially female bowlers. Previous national tournaments had very few female athletes, but this tournament is special with 31 female athletes participating."
Nguyen Thuy Uyen won the first gold medal of the tournament.
In the women's singles event taking place today, athlete Nguyen Thuy Uyen ( Can Tho ) excellently won the gold medal with a total score of 1,178 after 6 games. Thuy Uyen maintained her impressive form when she was continuously in the top 3 of the rankings after 5 games and accelerated in the last game to bring the first gold medal to Can Tho. The silver medal in this event belonged to athlete Le Thi Bach Linh (Quang Nam) with a total score of 1,164 and Trinh Tuyet Mai (Can Tho) ranked 3rd with 1,140 points.
The men's singles hook ball event has the participation of 5 delegations: Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Nam, Da Nang , Dong Nai and Binh Duong. The 2023 National Club Bowling Championship will continue until October 8.
