Poet Nguyen Tien Thanh’s poetry collection “Vien Ca” consists of 39 poems written by him in his recent period. Although the mischievous, tumultuous, and liberal qualities have diminished, in return, his new collection of poems adds richness in the depth of his thoughts, the uniqueness of his language, and the system of poetic images.

Poet Nguyen Tien Thanh does not advocate poetic innovation, his poems even lean more towards the classical side. However, reading Nguyen Tien Thanh's poems, one always feels the freshness, the freshness in the poems of a poet who is constantly digging deep to find himself. And constantly thinking about distant horizons.

He started his poetry career from the student poetry movement at Hanoi universities in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the years when the grayness of life immediately disappeared, leaving only the sublimity of poetry and the ecstatic emotions that exploded every time the dormitory poetry nights began.

At the launching ceremony, researchers, writers, and journalists all emphasized that “Viên ca” is a turning point in Nguyễn Tiến Thanh’s poetic creation. There is still a hint of elegance in the structure, language, and tone; so that old topics are still interesting to read. But the sobriety, richness of reason, and self-awareness have increased.

Poet Nguyen Quang Thieu, Chairman of the Vietnam Writers Association , said: In an era where literature in general and poetry in particular do not hold the central position of cultural life as before, people who love poetry, know how to write poetry, and never give up poetry like Nguyen Tien Thanh are very valuable. The launch of the poetry collection "Vien Ca" today helps connect poetry lovers together, creating a rare, intimate, and very poetic atmosphere.
