Sergey Brin has just gifted 4.1 million shares of Alphabet, Google's parent company, to an undisclosed recipient. The shares are worth $700 million.

Many sources said that these shares were donated by Sergey Brin to trust funds or charities. Sergey Brin and his representative have not confirmed this information.

Sergey Brin often sells stocks to donate money or directly donates shares to research projects to treat chronic diseases or funds non-profit organizations focused on health care and climate change.

It is estimated that Sergey Brin has donated more than $5 billion to charities, environmental organizations, and health care research…

Sergey Brin and Larry Page founded Google in 1998. Both stepped down from Google in 2019 but still hold a large stake in the company. Sergey Brin is currently the 10th richest person in the world with an estimated fortune of $145 billion, while Larry Page is ranked 8th in the world with a fortune of $155 billion.

Currently, both Sergey Brin and Larry Page are focusing on personal projects and hardly interfere with Google's work.

Since Google went public in 2004, Sergey Brin has sold $11 billion worth of shares.

The fortunes of Sergey Brin and Larry Page surged on Wednesday after Google showcased a slew of new technologies and integrated AI into its products, sending the company's stock up 5.6%. According to Bloomberg , Sergey Brin's fortune increased by $7 billion on the day.

Many market analysts believe that Sergey Brin's charitable donation at a time when Google's stock price is rising will help Brin save significantly on capital gains taxes.

Many billionaires in the US are also using this "trick" to optimize the amount of tax they have to pay when earning profits from stocks.
