Hai Phong's 123-year-old train station becomes a tourist destination

Built in 1902, Hai Phong station is not only a place to pick up and drop off train passengers but also has historical value.

On May 10, Hai Phong City announced that Hai Phong Railway Station has become a tourist destination, the first place visitors set foot on their journey to explore the city of red phoenix flowers by rail.

Hai Phong Railway Station is one of the oldest railway stations in Vietnam, with ancient French architecture. This is also the place where President Ho Chi Minh returned to Hanoi on October 21, 1946 after the Fontainbleau conference.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Mai - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong - said that the city has 942 relics. Of which, Lan Ha Bay is a world natural heritage, 5 special national relics and many national, city-level relics, and national intangible heritages.

Hai Phong Railway Station becoming the city's 12th tourist destination demonstrates the effort to preserve a beautiful, iconic architectural work, along with the City Theater and the Central Post Office.

Vietnam Railways and Hai Phong City will continue to closely coordinate in preserving and promoting the values ​​of the relic. From there, Hai Phong Station will be built into a cultural and tourist destination, the starting point for the journey to explore the city of red phoenix flowers.

With nearly 145 years of formation and development, Vietnam Railways now owns many works that are over a hundred years old. Among them, the Thong Nhat Railway was voted by Lonely Planet as one of the 9 most spectacular train journeys in the world.

In recent times, Vietnam Railways Corporation has brought to the people and tourists many new tourism products such as high-quality trains Hanoi - Da Nang, Da Nang - Saigon, the train connecting Hue - Da Nang heritage, Da Lat night train, and the luxury train Sjourney.

In particular, on May 10, the red phoenix flower train officially started rolling. The train consists of 20 carriages, including 2 VIP carriages with 34 seats designed in Indochina style. Along with that are 56 seats with 180-degree rotating seats, 64-seat carriages with flexible ticket prices. The train is equipped with semi-automatic doors, LED screens, free wi-fi, spacious hand washing area, and clean and airy toilets.

The new train is a tourism product with the city's identity, demonstrating the railway industry's determination to innovate, aiming to improve passenger experience and meet the trend of green tourism.
