Since the period of fighting for national independence, our Party has paid great attention to publishing activities and considered it an important field, a sharp weapon on the Party's cultural and ideological front. After the success of the August Revolution, in order to meet the requirements of building a revolutionary army in the new situation, since 1946, the Ministry of National Defense and other agencies have carried out military book publishing activities, then the National Defense Publishing House (in 1947) and the Guerrilla Publishing House (in 1948) were established.

Senior Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, spoke at the ceremony.

On July 11, 1950, President Ho Chi Minh signed and issued Decree No. 121/SL on the organization of the General Command of the Vietnam National Army and Militia. Article 3 of the Decree identified the National Defense Publishing House as one of the first five agencies in the organizational formation of the General Political Department, on the basis of merging the National Defense Publishing House and the Guerrilla Publishing House.

In response to the wishes of generations of cadres and employees of the People's Army Publishing House, on September 18, 1999, the Director of the General Department of Politics issued Decision No. 580/QD-CT recognizing July 11, 1950 as the Traditional Day of the People's Army Publishing House.

In his speech at the ceremony, Colonel Pham Van Truong, Director-Editor-in-Chief of the People's Army Publishing House, emphasized: "The history of the Publishing House since its inception has always been closely linked to the process of building, developing, fighting and maturing of our people's armed forces, under the leadership of the Party. Throughout its operation, the Publishing House has always closely followed and effectively served the political and military tasks of the Party according to each stage of development of the revolution and the army."

Delegates attended the ceremony to receive the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal and celebrate the 75th anniversary of the People's Army Publishing House's tradition day.

During the resistance war against French colonialism, despite operating under numerous difficulties, the Publishing House published nearly 300 books, mostly thin books, with rudimentary printing methods, black cardboard, and rustic forms. However, these were considered the most important works and documents of our army at that time, contributing to political and ideological education and combat training for soldiers.

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, the number and quality of published books increased rapidly, including many great works by President Ho Chi Minh, comrades Le Duan, Truong Chinh, Pham Van Dong, Vo Nguyen Giap, Nguyen Chi Thanh, etc., contributing to disseminating and thoroughly guiding the actions of the army and people nationwide to successfully implement the Party's political and military guidelines.

Practical content and forms suitable for soldiers' combat activities such as publishing small-sized books, building mobile bookshelves in backpacks, books followed soldiers to all battlefields.
