Humans – the weak link in the cinema ecosystem
The workshop focused on exchanging, sharing and orienting solutions to develop the Vietnamese film industry in the context of international integration and digital transformation, thereby promoting the formation of a professional, modern film ecosystem imbued with national identity.
In addition, delegates also discussed trends and applications of new technology across the entire cinema value chain – from content creation, production, post-production, distribution to audience experience.
Notably, among the four key factors including policy, human resources, technology and market, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hoai Son, a specialized member of the National Assembly 's Committee on Culture and Society, commented that human resources are currently the biggest weakness of Vietnamese cinema.
Analyzing in depth the issue of human resources, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hoai Son said that when mentioning the story of human resources, we must talk about a large ecosystem: from directors, actors, screenwriters to producers, censors, managers... All are links that make up a film.
From that, he affirmed: people are the center of the film industry. However, human resources are the weakest link today. Although the film industry has made efforts to change, the human resource problem is still a long-term problem that needs to be fundamentally solved in the near future.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong also frankly admitted that the film industry is facing an imbalance in training. While actors and directors are being trained in large numbers, technical and post-production positions – which play an important role in the value chain – are seriously lacking.
Vietnamese films account for 62% of market share: Positive signal
In the first discussion session with the theme "Developing the film industry in the new era", three guests including Dr. Tran Thi Phuong Lan (Director of the Department of Culture - Arts, Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission), Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hoai Son (full-time member of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture and Social Affairs) and director Victor Vu shared directly many issues related to the story of Vietnamese identity in cinema, opportunities and challenges in the current context of international integration.

Director Victor Vu believes that to maintain position and form, filmmakers must continuously innovate and invest seriously and carefully to bring quality products, preserving Vietnamese identity in the stories told.

Meanwhile, Dr. Tran Thi Phuong Lan said that recently, many Vietnamese films have been well received by audiences, not only in the entertainment genre, but also in the historical war revolutionary film genre, which is a positive and encouraging sign. However, Ms. Lan said that such phenomena also need to be deciphered to continue to develop.
Notably, Ms. Dinh Thi Thanh Huong, Vice Chairwoman of Galaxy Group and Chairwoman of Galaxy Studio, said: provisional figures up to now show that in 2025, Vietnamese film market share will account for 62%, a leap compared to the rate of 42% in 2024.
