In recent years, with the support of the State through programs and projects, mountainous districts have promoted, mobilized and encouraged people to shift economic structure and replicate highly effective agricultural production models.

In Quan Son district, for many years, bamboo has been considered a tree to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty. Recognizing the important role of bamboo, the local government has encouraged people to expand the area of bamboo cultivation, supported technology transfer, encouraged businesses to invest in production, and created output for bamboo products. Up to now, Quan Son district has over 27,000 hectares of pure bamboo and bamboo, 13,000 hectares of mixed bamboo and bamboo forests. Communes with large areas of bamboo and bamboo forests are Son Dien, Muong Min, Tam Lu, Tam Thanh, Son Thuy, Na Meo... Of which, over 3,000 hectares have been granted international FSC certification in Tam Lu and Tam Thanh communes. Thanks to its good quality, bamboo and bamboo in Quan Son are chosen by many businesses inside and outside the province as raw materials for the production of handicrafts, or to make bamboo blinds and incense sticks. Currently, there are 60 establishments in the area processing and trading forest products from bamboo, rattan, reed, and rattan. Each year, the value of bamboo and rattan brings tens of billions of dong to the people.

From the effectiveness of production models, in recent years, Thach Thanh district has had many solutions to attract businesses, organizations and individuals to invest in growing fruit trees, especially oranges, grapefruits and guavas. Up to now, the district has 292 hectares of oranges, 327 hectares of grapefruits, 216 hectares of guavas, 185 hectares of jackfruit, 610 hectares of pineapples, and 3,382 hectares of sugarcane. On average, 1 hectare brings in an income of over 120 million VND.

In Ngoc Lac district, currently in most communes and towns, the movement to develop safe agricultural production has been replicated, creating large-scale production areas, following the direction of applying high technology. Currently, in the district, there are 11 models of greenhouses and net houses for high-tech agricultural production producing Kim Hoang Hau melons, vegetables, tubers and fruits applying VietGAP standards; 150 hectares of turmeric, 130 hectares of lemongrass, 360 hectares of pink banana trees produced in an organic direction. In addition, there are about 97.5 hectares of crops of Ho Guom - Song Am High-Tech Agriculture Company Limited, including: 15 hectares of oranges, grapefruits, 27 hectares of seedless lychees, 11 hectares of red-fleshed dragon fruit, 34.5 hectares of Israeli avocados, 10 hectares of Keo mangoes that have been certified by VietGAP and are gradually converting to organic agricultural production. Along with that, in the district there are also hundreds of livestock farms applying biosafety measures to create quality products, ensuring food hygiene and safety and high economic value.

Currently, many localities in mountainous areas have been implementing many models of agricultural and forestry economic development, bringing economic efficiency, contributing to job creation and increasing income for people. Muong Lat district has built and formed 43 production models, including 13 crop models, 17 livestock models, 1 medicinal plant development model and 12 advantage product models. Lang Chanh district has built 35 models, including 17 crop models, 15 livestock models, 3 medicinal plant development models...

In order to effectively exploit and promote the potential and advantages of mountainous districts, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province has developed and issued the Project "Developing models of advantageous crops, livestock, medicinal herbs in mountainous areas of Thanh Hoa province, period 2022-2025". The goal by 2025 is to promote 33 models of advantageous crops, livestock, medicinal herbs, and products to build production development models suitable for each region; exploit the potential advantages of mountainous areas, create livelihoods and jobs for 3,500 households. This is a favorable condition for people in mountainous areas to have conditions for economic development, sustainable hunger eradication and poverty reduction.
