DNVN - At noon on October 16, the price of SJC gold bars increased sharply by 1 million VND/tael, while the price of round gold rings also surpassed the 84 million VND/tael mark for the first time.
Specifically, at Bao Tin Minh Chau Company, the price of 9999 gold rings is listed at VND83.18 million/tael (buy) and VND84.08 million/tael (sell), an increase of VND250,000/tael for both directions compared to October 15. PNJ Company also recorded the price of VND83 million/tael (buy) and VND84 million/tael (sell), an increase of VND200,000/tael.
In the morning trading session on October 16, the price of plain SJC rings fluctuated between 82.4 - 83.7 million VND/tael, an increase of 400,000 VND/tael compared to the previous day. Bao Tin Minh Chau also announced the buying and selling prices at 83.2 - 84.1 million VND/tael.
SJC gold bars are currently selling for up to VND86 million/tael, the highest price in the past 4 months. Many businesses listed the buying price at VND84 million/tael and the selling price at VND86 million/tael, an increase of VND1 million/tael compared to October 15, after the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) adjusted the selling price. This is the highest price of gold bars in 4 months, although it is still lower than the historical peak of VND6.4 million.
In the foreign exchange market, the State Bank of Vietnam announced the central exchange rate of VND to USD on October 16 at 24,187 VND/USD, up 10 VND compared to October 15. BIDV listed the USD buying price at 24,760 VND and selling price at 25,120 VND, up 20 VND for buying and 10 VND for selling. Meanwhile, Vietcombank adjusted the buying price down to 24,730 VND and selling price to 25,120 VND, compared to 24,735 VND (buying) and 25,125 VND (selling) on October 15.
