The film is also expected to be shown in Vietnam in the near future.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online on the afternoon of March 13, Mr. Nguyen Duc - the younger brother in the surgery to separate the twins - was "extremely moved".

"It's hard to describe my feelings right now. I'm both happy and excited because this is the first and last film about me," he said.

According to Nguyen Duc, the film wants to let Japanese audiences know about his life in the most complete way.

These are things that may have been mentioned in newspapers and other media, but they are not complete and accurate about everything the character has experienced, had to deal with, and the pressures and false rumors about him.

Nguyen Duc expressed: "Through this documentary, I want to spread to young audiences more about determination and feelings that have never been told before."

Production director Yoshie Ruth Linton learned about the story of the two brothers Nguyen Viet and Nguyen Duc when she was 7 years old through an old news item and never forgot it.

In 2010, she went to Vietnam to meet the two characters in the news, but by then her brother Nguyen Viet had passed away.

She and Nguyen Duc became friends.

In 2022, wars broke out around the world , Ruth remembered the story of her Vietnamese friend and wanted to make a documentary about him.

Grief still repeats somewhere even though the world is more modern and civilized and the tragedy of the Vietnamese twins seems to be a thing of the past.

Ruth said that with this film, she hopes "the audience will become storytellers of peace and convey the importance of peace to young people, the creators of our future."

Twins Nguyen Viet and Nguyen Duc were born in Sa Thay district, Kon Tum province in 1981.

As a result of Agent Orange, Viet and Duc were conjoined at the abdomen and pelvis, sharing one pair of legs. The two brothers were abandoned by their family at the commune health station.

On October 4, 1988, the surgery to separate the twins was completed by 70 professors and doctors from Vietnam and Japan.

The surgery also became a milestone in the history of Vietnamese medicine, not only saving the patient's life but also changing the world's view of Vietnamese medicine.
