On October 15, MSc. Pham Thai Son - Director of the Admissions and Communications Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade said that in 2026, the school plans to maintain the same 5 admission methods as in 2025.
The five methods are: Considering high school graduation exam scores; Considering grade 10, 11 and 12 transcripts; Considering the capacity assessment test scores of Ho Chi Minh City National University; Direct admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training ; Considering the capacity assessment test scores of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education combined with the transcript.
Maintaining a variety of admission methods is a suitable direction in the current university admissions context. This approach not only expands opportunities for candidates, reduces exam pressure, but also helps schools flexibly adapt to changes in the high school graduation exam and upcoming competency assessment exams.
“Regarding enrollment in 2026, the school will gradually reduce the rate of considering transcripts and stop completely in 2028. At that time, the school plans to switch to comprehensive enrollment, similar to the model currently applied by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology,” said Mr. Son.
Notably, the 2026 enrollment draft of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade also mentions a special support policy for candidates who are admitted directly. These students are exempted from 100% of tuition fees for the entire course and supported with 3 million VND/month for living expenses during the entire study period.

In 2026, in addition to the direct admission method as prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry plans to apply only the comprehensive admission method. This method includes component scores: Considering high school graduation exam scores, capacity assessment test scores, high school learning results and other outstanding achievements.
"Admission based on many factors helps the school have a more comprehensive assessment, ensure fairness and select candidates that best suit the training requirements," explained Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan - Head of the school's Training Department.
High school graduation exam scores and capacity assessment will be the main weight. The specific plan will be announced by the school in the near future.
Two other schools, the University of Finance and Marketing and the Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City, are expected to have no major changes in their admission methods in 2026.
At the University of Finance and Marketing, in addition to direct admission, the school continues to consider high school graduation exam scores, academic records, Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment scores, and the V-SAT exam. Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City Banking University maintains the same methods as last year, except for the competency assessment score.
Previously, at the 2025 Higher Education Conference, the Ministry of Education and Training requested training institutions to announce the 2026 enrollment method in October 2025, earlier than usual (usually in March). This is considered a solution to help candidates have more time to prepare and have a clearer direction for their journey to university.
At the same time, the Ministry of Education and Training will also issue revised and supplemented admission regulations to overcome the lack of fairness in admission methods and criteria, in accordance with the 2018 General Education Program.
