Sharing difficulties
At the beginning of each month, women in Thanh Binh commune bring heartfelt gifts to the homes of elderly and lonely members of the Women's Union, creating a warm image in the community. Each recipient receives 10kg of rice and 100,000 VND in cash, helping to alleviate difficulties and provide motivation for members to stabilize their lives. This activity is part of the "Rice Jar of Compassion" model implemented by the Thanh Binh Commune Women's Union.
To maintain the effectiveness of the model, the Women's Union of Thanh Binh commune proactively mobilized philanthropists from within and outside the locality to participate and contribute. Depending on their means, each individual can donate 5-10kg of rice or provide cash support.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Dieu Hai, President of the Women's Union of Thanh Binh commune, shared that what is valuable is that the model creates a spread of love and strengthens community bonds. Each handful of rice, each small contribution, contains the affection and support of the women and philanthropists, helping families overcome immediate difficulties and feel the care and sharing from society.
Implementing a program to care for and support disadvantaged women members, linked to improving the quality of criteria for building new rural areas, the Women's Union of Tra Lien commune has supported the construction of sanitation facilities for two disadvantaged women's households in the area, with each household receiving 5 million VND. These households are Ms. Tran Thi Nhi (Lang Gach village) and Ms. Dinh Thi Dieu (Tak Kot village). Although the value of the support is not large, it is of practical significance, helping the families gradually improve their living conditions.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thu, President of the Women's Union of Tra Lien commune, shared that the donated sanitation facilities contribute to improving living conditions and raising awareness among members about maintaining environmental hygiene. This also serves as encouragement for women to have more confidence and strength to strive forward.
Continuing its commitment to supporting women's economic development and improving their lives, the Women's Union of Tien Phuoc commune has mobilized resources to implement many practical models for disadvantaged members, especially single mothers and poor households. Accordingly, the union provided livelihood support to Ms. Truong Thi Thuy (village 4), a single mother from a poor household, who is raising a child attending university. The support package included 25 chicks, one bag of animal feed, and technical guidance, helping her to increase her income, gradually stabilize her life, and move towards sustainable poverty alleviation.
In addition, Ms. Thuy and eight other women members in difficult circumstances also received support to build sturdy septic toilets, with a total cost of 90 million VND, implemented by the Women's Union of the commune in coordination with the Habitat organization.

Mutual assistance in labor days
In remote and disadvantaged areas, the flexible and creative approaches of local women's union organizations are proving remarkably effective.
Typically in Hung Son commune - a border area adjacent to Laos, where the lives of the people mainly depend on agricultural and forestry production, the model of providing labor support implemented by the Women's Union of the commune has strongly spread the spirit of mutual assistance, becoming a practical support system to help many disadvantaged women rise up.
Notably, all 24 women's associations in the villages and hamlets simultaneously mobilized their members to support women in difficult circumstances, those who are sick, or those who are alone, through labor contributions.
The case of Ms. Cơ Lâu Thị Nha, residing in H'juh village, is a prime example. With a small family and frequent illnesses herself, Ms. Nha couldn't hide her emotion when the women in the village helped her clear land and plant acacia trees in time for the planting season. “Before, every time the planting season came, I was very worried because of my poor health and the lack of labor in my family. Thanks to the women in H'juh village who came to help, the work was completed on time. I deeply appreciate everyone's kindness,” Ms. Nha shared.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Lenh, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Hung Son commune, since the beginning of March, a review has identified 20 female members in Hung Son commune who need support in agricultural production. Based on this, the local branches have proactively developed plans and mobilized over 320 women to participate, contributing a total of over 450 man-days of labor.
The support activities were implemented promptly and practically, focusing on important production stages such as planting 7.5 hectares of wet rice, clearing 6 hectares of land, thinning 6 hectares of rice, planting 3.5 hectares of corn, and caring for nearly 2 hectares of vegetables... Thanks to the joint efforts of the members, disadvantaged and single-parent households were able to ensure their harvests in a timely manner, reducing the pressure on their agricultural production.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lenh added that the model of providing labor support has proven effective, helping members overcome immediate difficulties. This is also an important foundation for local women to develop their inner strength, gradually improve their economic situation, and contribute to achieving sustainable poverty reduction goals. Besides supporting labor and production, the branches also organized 14 visits and presented 20 gifts worth approximately 10 million VND to encourage members who were ill.
