Many events to exchange and introduce books at Hanoi Book Fair 2025

At 9:30 am on Saturday, October 4, at the Suicide Monument area (opposite Ngoc Son Temple), Hoan Kiem Lake walking street, Hanoi , Nha Nam organized a talk show on the occasion of the launch of the novel "City and Uncertain Walls" by famous Japanese writer Haruki Murakami.

The talk show was attended by translator Uyen Thiem, who translated the Vietnamese version of the work, PhD in Literature Tran Thi Thuc, Lecturer at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and writer Hien Trang as the program coordinator.

“The City and Its Uncertain Walls” is the latest novel by Haruki Murakami, one of the authors who is very popular with Vietnamese readers.

The novel depicts a city without memories, without emotions, where people live between invisible walls and quiet loneliness. Hidden deep within those walls is a journey to find love, memories and a way out for the deepest part of the soul - a never-ending dream that the writer gently opens to the readers.

Translator Uyen Thiem is also the one who translated many famous Japanese literary works: "Sleeping Beauties", "Sound of the Mountain", "Snow Country" (Kawabata Yasunari)...

At 4:30 p.m. the same day, also at the Martyrs' Monument, Omage Plus Books held a discussion to introduce the book series "The Family of General Thanh - General Vinh: Two Generations of Generals - A Flow of History".

The discussion was attended by Major General Hoang Kim Phung, former Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, journalist Luong Bich Ngoc - representative of the group of authors, speaker Phan Dang and moderator journalist and poet Huu Viet (Nhan Dan Newspaper).

At the meeting, according to the wishes of Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Chi Trung and the group of authors, Omega Plus Books also sent royalties for the two works "Letters from North to South" and "Nguyen Chi Thanh: Perspectives from posterity" to the "Forever 20" Club.

This decision of Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Chi Trung and the group of authors not only shows deep gratitude but also the desire to join hands to strongly support the "Forever 20" Club. Over the past 20 years, the "Forever 20" Club has organized many meaningful political and social activities, igniting the flame of enthusiasm and patriotism for the young generation.

At 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 5, Vietnam Women's Publishing House organized an exchange session to introduce the historical novel "Van Xuan".

The event took place at the Hanoi Book Fair stage, Ba Kieu Temple flower garden, and Hoan Kiem Lake walking street. Speakers included many famous writers and critics of contemporary literature.

The historical novel “Van Xuan” was written by author Yveline Ferray over a period of 7 years (1982-1988), translated by Nguyen Khac Duong. This is not only a novel but also a long, detailed and profound journey about the life and career of Nguyen Trai - “a great poet, a talented writer, a far-sighted strategist, a talented diplomat, a refined musician, a wise geographer and a wonderful teacher”.

Going beyond the framework of a conventional historical novel - with a thickness of nearly 1,200 pages - this monumental work consists of two volumes, divided into 9 small volumes and is considered a literary epic, not only "recreating the life and career of Nguyen Trai" but also has a panoramic picture of Dai Viet in the 15th century - a glorious but also tragic period in the history of the nation.

At this year’s Hanoi Book Fair, the Vietnam Women’s Publishing House has 3 author-work exchange events. In addition to the book “Van Xuan”, the Publishing House also organized a Book tour to introduce the book “IELTS Writing - Writing essays “as good as distilled water” by author Nguyen Hoang Huy (editor-in-chief) from October 5 to 7 in Hanoi and Bac Ninh. The author will have meetings with readers, mainly at schools, with middle school and high school students, and university students.

The opening exchange session for the tour booking will take place at 10am on Sunday, October 5th, at the Hanoi Book Fair stage, Ba Kieu Temple flower garden, and Hoan Kiem Lake walking street.

The book “IELTS Writing - Writing essays with “quality” is a foreign language and skills book, written by Nguyen Hoang Huy (editor-in-chief), co-authors Hoang Phuoc Nguyen, Ngo Tran Anh Thu, Nguyen Hoang Anh Thu, and Pham Ngoc Thang.

The book is currently in the top best-selling books of Vietnam Women's Publishing House in 2025 (as of the end of September 2025).

The remaining event of the Vietnam Women's Publishing House is the exchange - introduction of author Vinh Kiu's books "Tuoi Trang" and "Sieu Than Robot Nho" and the workshop "Khi Xua Ta Be Ta Choi", taking place at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, at the main stage, Hanoi Book Street, 19/12 Street.

The book exchange event by author Vinh Kiu was held on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival 2025. At the event, readers had the opportunity to review the stories of the 7x and 8x generations with an exchange with author Vinh Kiu (work "Tuoi Trang"), the issues raised with the young generation (work "Super Little Robot"). In addition, readers attending the event also enjoyed tea with the participation of Mr. Truyen Nguyen - Vo Tu Tra, made moon cakes and played games such as playing rubber bands, pressing flowers, making hearts, making masks, eating checkers, dragon snakes up to the clouds...

Also within the framework of the Hanoi Book Fair 2025, Kim Dong Publishing House cooperated with the Reading with Children Club to organize the Booktalk program: "Land of Fog - The Quest for Memory Glue: When Family is a Miracle".

The program takes place at 7:00 p.m. on October 4 at the main central stage, Hanoi Book Fair (Ba Kieu Temple area, Hoan Kiem Lake walking street, Hanoi).

Guests of the program include Dr. Nguyen Thuy Anh - poet, educator, Head of the Reading with Children Club and translator Kieu Ngan Ha - who translated the work into Vietnamese.

This event promises to bring readers a space to exchange and discuss the value of memories and the magical power of family love, vividly recreated through the children's novel "The Land of Fog - The Quest for Memory Glue".

Along with the exchange activities and introduction of new works, publishing units and bookstores also bring to the Book Fair many promotional programs, gifts, promoting reading culture for readers of all ages, promising wonderful experiences with books during the weekend.
