Herbal medicine to support the treatment of dental diseases
To treat toothache, when there is no specific medicine available or you have not seen a doctor in time, traditional medicine practitioners recommend using herbs to "relieve the pain" as follows:
- Crush garlic, add a little salt and apply to the painful tooth area. Garlic has antiseptic properties so it will help cure infections, including toothaches.
- Crush ginger and apply it to the tooth. Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties so it can also help relieve pain. Do this several times a day and you will see results.
- Take a lemon from the refrigerator, cut it into slices and bite into it to temporarily relieve pain. Lemon juice can massage the teeth and gums, thus relieving pain. Moreover, lemon is acidic so it can also be antibacterial.
- Onion juice also has a massaging effect and relieves toothache and gum pain.
- Take a cluster of yellow chrysanthemum flowers, wash them, place them directly on the aching tooth, and bite gently. After a few minutes, the pain will subside. You can dry the cluster of flowers, crush them, and soak them in white wine for a few hours (the longer the better). When using, sip a little of this medicinal wine, hold it in the aching area, and do not swallow. Do this 2-3 times a day.
- Use a little turmeric powder and put it on the painful tooth. The pain will be reduced significantly without causing any side effects.
- Take a little black pepper and a few washed basil leaves in equal amounts, grind them into a thick paste. Then, apply this mixture to the painful tooth area to help relieve the pain.
- Piper lolot, if not enough leaves, can use the whole plant. Wash, crush, squeeze to get the juice. Add a little salt, use to gargle. Gargle for about 5 minutes each time, then spit it out or swallow it. Do this 2-3 times a day.
In the morning, if you feel less pain and fever, continue at noon. If you see blood and pus, rinse your mouth with salt water and try to rinse many times until all the pus and blood comes out. At 4 pm, continue rinsing for the third time. You may feel a tingling sensation in both jaws, but you will not feel any pain.
At 8pm, continue rinsing once more and then go to bed. Continue doing this for 2-3 days until the pain is gone, the blood and pus are gone, the tooth roots are all flattened, and you can eat, drink and live normally.
In Oriental medicine, piper lolot is called Tat Bat, spicy, aromatic, warm. It has the effect of strengthening the stomach, lowering the qi, relieving pain, stopping vomiting, breaking up pus in the tooth pockets, and is quite effective in treating periodontitis. When you gargle with piper lolot juice, the medicinal liquid penetrates deep into all the gaps between teeth, swollen areas, etc. and is therefore more effective than taking other medicines.
Do hot and cold compresses help with toothache?
These two conditions are very effective in reducing pain. Take some ice cubes, wrap them in a thin towel and apply it to the painful area.
You can also use a hot tea bag, squeeze out the excess water and bite into it. Or simply drink a cup of hot ginger tea or eat a cold ice cream.
Salt water: When the pain flares up, take a glass of warm water, dissolve salt in it and gargle continuously. Gargle vigorously, in case of severe pain, you can also hold salt water in your mouth.
