The Thai Binh LNG power project worth 1.99 billion USD was granted an investment certificate along with many other cooperation agreements at the Vietnam - Japan Economic Forum in Tokyo on December 16.

With the theme "Economic relations in the new era - Comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world", the forum was organized by the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

Nearly 30 cooperation and investment agreements were discussed at the forum, witnessed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of Vietnamese ministries, branches and localities.

Notably, Truong Thanh Group and Tokyo Gas, Kyuden International were granted the investment policy decision and investment certificate for the Thai Binh LNG Power Plant worth 1.99 billion USD.

Representatives of Vinfast and Marubeni Company signed a cooperation agreement to develop a circular economy system for electric vehicle batteries. DEEP Green Energy Company and Nippon Sanso Vietnam, Mitsubishi Vietnam signed a cooperation agreement to conduct a feasibility study on green hydrogen production at Deep C Industrial Park in Hai Phong...

Speaking at the forum, the Prime Minister said that after nearly four decades of innovation, openness and integration, Vietnam has achieved many remarkable achievements. The size of the economy reached 409 billion USD; per capita income increased from 160 USD to over 4,100 USD (an increase of more than 25 times) .

Vietnam has signed 16 new-generation free trade agreements with over 60 countries and territories, including the largest markets in the world, and is increasingly diversifying its markets, products, and supply chains.

In 2023, Vietnam welcomed many world leaders, especially US President Joe Biden and Chinese General Secretary and President Xi Jinping.

Vietnam aims to become a developing country with upper middle income by 2030 and a developed country with high income by 2045.

In which, internal strength is fundamental, strategic, decisive, long-term, external strength is important, breakthrough; focus on implementing 3 strategic breakthroughs in institutions, human resources and infrastructure.

"We need Japan to help Vietnam industrialize and modernize," the Prime Minister emphasized. Accordingly, Vietnam wishes to receive preferential financial assistance; transfer of modern technology; contribute to training human resources, especially high-quality human resources; modern governance, perfecting institutions suitable to reality; promoting cooperation between localities...

The Head of Government affirmed that 500,000 Vietnamese people studying, living and working in Japan are living proof of the cooperative relationship between the two countries.

"I call on Japanese businesses to invest in Vietnam and achieve increasingly high results. We thank you for coming and we are happier if you succeed," he said.

Attending the Vietnam-Japan Labor Cooperation Forum in the afternoon of the same day, the Prime Minister encouraged Vietnamese workers and trainees to work hard, study well, and improve their skills, experience, and knowledge. He advised the Vietnamese community to try to integrate well, obey the law, respect the culture of the host country, and avoid violating the law and social evils in life.

At the same time, he requested that Japanese authorities pay more attention to the rights of Vietnamese workers and create conditions for the Vietnamese community here to deepen, strengthen and strengthen the Vietnam-Japan relationship.

Receiving Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Ken Saito, the Prime Minister hoped that the two countries would continue to strengthen cooperation, concretize and promote the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established during the visit of President Vo Van Thuong last November. Minister Ken Saito affirmed his desire to promote economic, trade and industrial cooperation with Vietnam, from the perspective of a future economic and social co-creation partnership, especially in areas where Japan has strengths such as clean energy, digital economy, semiconductors, next-generation automobiles, and high-tech medicine. Japan is committed to accompanying Vietnam in energy transition and carbon emission reduction.
