Recently, several social networking sites have posted content inviting parents to register their children from grades 1 to 9 to participate in the children's parade at Ba Dinh Square on the occasion of National Day, September 2.

This article used the logo of Vietnam Television (VTV) on the cover photo, the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Team on the Facebook avatar, and even clearly stated the time, location, and content that was said to be "recorded and broadcast live" on Vietnam Television.

The information even emphasized that the program will cover all costs of accommodation, travel, training and filming for participating students, easily making many gullible parents sign up.

In response to this incident, on July 24, VTV3’s blue-ticked fanpage confirmed that this information was completely fake and inaccurate. VTV had no plans or policies regarding the organization of the above event.

The impostors have taken advantage of VTV's reputation to spread false information, causing public confusion and showing signs of fraud. VTV recommends that people do not believe or share unofficial information about this event.

"This could be a scam to steal property" - fanpage warns.

At the same time, the Central Council of Young Pioneers' fanpage also announced that the information about the "Junior Parade" organization was fake. The Association called on everyone to be vigilant, report fake pages and only follow the official information page of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers organization.

According to the investigation, the fake event page asked parents to provide their children's personal information such as: full name, year of birth, address, school, phone number and email. This is a sign of collecting personal data for non-transparent purposes.

Taking advantage of the name of reputable agencies to spread fake news not only causes public confusion but also poses the risk of fraud, privacy infringement and personal data violation.
