Vietnam Digital Week with the theme "Institutions for AI"
From October 27-29, the Vietnam International Digital Week 2025 (VIDW 2025) took place in Ninh Binh and Hanoi, chaired by the Ministry of Science and Technology in coordination with the People's Committee of Ninh Binh province.
With the theme "Institutions for AI," this year's event aims to promote policy dialogue, share international experiences, and introduce new technological solutions in the fields of AI, 5G, digital infrastructure, digital human resources, and innovation.
The week kicked off with the Ministerial Roundtable on Artificial Intelligence (AI) Institutions – an event bringing together representatives from government agencies, international organizations, and leading businesses to exchange views, enhance cooperation, and promote partnerships between Vietnamese businesses and global partners.

The 6th ASEAN 5G Conference – an event initiated and hosted annually by Vietnam since 2019 – also took place during the week.
Approximately 800 domestic and international delegates are expected to attend the forums and workshops, including leaders from major organizations such as the World Bank, the European Union, the International Telecommunication Union, the Asia- Pacific Telecommunication Union, and representatives from leading Vietnamese and international technology corporations.
Xiaomi phones are increasing in price due to pressure from chip prices.
Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi said that rising memory chip prices have increased mobile phone production costs, following disappointing market prices for its new Redmi K90 series.
"Cost pressure has shifted to the prices of our new products," Xiaomi Chairman Lu Weibing wrote on Weibo. "Memory chip costs have risen far beyond expectations and may continue to increase."

The Redmi K90 has a higher price tag compared to its predecessor.
Xiaomi launched the Redmi K90 last week with a starting price of 2,599 yuan (approximately 9.6 million VND) for the standard version (12GB RAM, 256GB storage). This price is higher than the 2,499 yuan (approximately 9.2 million VND) price of its predecessor, the K80, which launched in November 2024.
According to Lu Weibing, consumers may be disappointed by the price gap between configurations. Therefore, Xiaomi will reduce the price of the most sought-after K90 model (12GB RAM, 512GB storage) by 300 yuan (1.1 million VND) to 2,899 yuan (10.7 million VND) during the first month of sales.
According to Reuters , the global race for chips to be used in artificial intelligence applications has tightened the conventional supply used in smartphones, personal computers, and servers.
EU finds Meta and TikTok violated transparency obligations.
In announcing the preliminary results of an investigation, the European Commission (EU) stated that the American technology company Meta and the Chinese-owned social media app TikTok violated legal obligations by failing to provide researchers with full access to publicly available data.

The EU is tightening its regulation of tech giants through the Digital Services Act (DSA).
A Meta spokesperson told Reuters that the company rejects the assertion that it violated the DSA, while TikTok affirmed its commitment to transparency.
"Allowing researchers access to platform data is an essential transparency obligation under the DSA, as it enables the public to monitor the potential impact of platforms on our physical and mental health," the European Commission stated in its communiqué.
